I hate not finishing books. I normally make my way through them. And I tried several times to get through this.
And I love L. V. Lanes The Controllers series.
But this I could not get through.
Where is the plot? 
Why are characters so flat?
World building?
Why does the writing feel so odd?

I had to go back and read a chapter from a Controllers book. The writing is similar but not the same. 
I honestly thought Prey was an early work of the author.. not one of the newest. It just reads wrong. 
I am not an native speaker so it is most likely a "me problem" .

I am tempted to give another star for the cover, it's pretty.
