It was all a bit flat for me. After the initial meet, it felt like they then spent too much of the book apart, and then when they are together again, the instant talk about marriage and mating felt a bit much. In general this series has a bit of an "insta lust" theme running through it, but it never felt even close to real here. Vanni - I struggled to get a real feel to her. She was a bit boring and daft. And it felt a bit too much at times that it had to be made clear how pro species she was and opposed her finance/FIL views and thought they were vile. A bit like it had to be forced down out throat that she did not agree with them. It felt like even toward they end, they were both still unsure of each others feelings and still held a lot of insecurity in the relationship - while talking about babies and marriage. A contradictory theme that made it feel almost unfinished and that we needed to spend a lot more time with them settling as a couple. But saying that, I will continue the series ofc, there have been books I have loved and some less so in the series, but overall it is a winner for me.
