The sixth installment to the long standing series that is the Anita Blake books and we get all of two chapters in when we find out someone has put a bounty out on Anita(thanks to Edward for the heads up). In a side plot, a rotting vampire has asked for her help in stopping what seemsnto be his demise. Anita and Richard both are starting to feel a rift in their relationship, some of it due to shifter politics and the two of them having vastly different views on how things should be handled. The bounty on Anita goes up and she tries to play bait in hopes of luring out whoever put the bounty out on her. Jean-Claude and Richard cone up with an idea involving Anita that can insure all of their own power is amplified and secure their power base. Along the way Anita finds that she can raise any dead, a true necromancer. And Anita finally gives in to her feelings about Jean-Claude and we get our first every "spicy" scene of the series.

As much as I like trashy book literature, this book was a total fail
