Better Off Dead A Jack Reacher Novel
Reviews

Have read every book in the series… until now. Ch 12 is as far as I can go. Huge inconsistency just too much for me. Reacher has always been about his meticulous situational awareness, so when the author(s) suddenly change a theme of the narrative, without even realizing it… then I’m out. Sad to say it, but I can’t continue with Andrew. I feel bad saying it, but this is book two in a row where I have been horribly disappointed in what has been one of, if not the #1, my favorite series.

Sad times When Lee Child indicated he felt he was aging out of the Reacher novels I had some hope that Andrew could keep it going. I was wrong. I’m certain it’s hard for a writer to shift to 1st person, and when they do it should be because they can make the dialog consistent, robust and intentional. This wasn’t the case in Better Off Dead (how ironic of title is that?). The dialog is random, feels like it is being created for word count, not that it supports the story line or the main character. I hope that this hero can be rescued.

Joint authors do not seem to work for me. I listed to this and the story just dragged.
