I love the way this series is evolving, especially the way the author weaves the story of the characcter of Lemony Snickett in with the Baudelaire's story.

I can't believe I've finally finished this series. There is still so much unanswered in this mysterious tale, but it doesn't need to be told. This was not how I expected this to end. (view spoiler)[ I thought we would meet up with a lot of other characters and the Baudelaire's orphans but we only heard about them. We don't know if they are alive  (hide spoiler)]

I can't wait for the Netflix series of this series.

A fine end to an excellent story, and yet I find myself wanting more. I suppose that is the ultimate sign of an excellent book/series. Sigh... ...That last Harry Potter book needs to hurry up and get here!

Cute book! I loved that a kid had written 'I haven't read the book yet, but I'm pretty sure Count Olaf will replace the gym teacher in disguise' in the library copy... I'm not saying if she was right or not, also, don't write in library books, kids!

This was a really beautiful end to a really wonderful series. The end of the Baudelaire’s story may not be the typical happy ending, but at least they were able to find peace after the series of unfortunate events that happened to them.

Never really thought about the possibility that the Quagmires died? I just hope that they’re alive and will be reunited with the Baudelaires when they get back to the world.

How the ending was tied up was not how I expected it to be and although they were many questions left unanswered and mysteries left unsolved, it teaches us a valuable lesson about life. There’s no way we can have every single answer to every question in the Universe - some things just really stay a secret.

(Hopefully they write a series about Beatrice)

I like school settings, and this is no exception. Their boarding school is so horrible, and I find the rules they have to follow so bizarre and imaginative. Despite the protagonists being miserable, I love how they tackle problems and solve them.

Dear Listener, You are presumably looking at the back of this audiobook, or the end of the end. The end of the end is the best place to begin the end, because if you listen to the end from the beginning of the beginning of the end to the end of the end of the end, you will arrive at the end of the end of your rope. This audiobook is the last in A Series of Unfortunate Events, and even if you braved the previous twelve volumes, you probably can't stand such unpleasantries as a fearsome storm, a suspicious beverage, a herd of wild sheep, an enormous bird cage, and a truly haunting secret about the Baudelaire parents. I also shouldn't mention the features of the interactive CD, which include: Perplexing word games Photos from The Lemony Snicket Archives Art from The Brett Helquist gallery It has been my solemn occupation to complete the history of the Baudelaire orphans, and at last I am finished. You likely have some other occupation, so if I were you I would drop this audiobook at once, so the end does not finish you. With all due respect, Lemony Snicket

I really do appreciate the way this series ends. I had forgotten much of this book from the first time I read it. I remember feeling dissatisfied that first go round, but now -- at least 10 years later, I wonder if it my "adultness" and an unjustified need for completion that fueled that. It is possible to have catharsis and still feel as though questions are unresolved. I really do love the creativity of the series, and while formulaic at times, I don't think the books could end any way other than what Snicket gives us in "The End."

Also - shout out to Tim Curry as narrator for these books! I really do love the audiobook version of the series, and definitely would recommend it.

This was a bit of a dissapointed read, especially because it's the final book in the series. Book 12 was just such a satisfying read and felt like the whole series come together in that one so well and this one felt like one of the middle book in the series for the most time, instead of a conclusion. I mean the end was an end to the series but I don't know how to feel about it. I mean, it's not bad but I'm also not crazy about it. Overall I just think no questions were answered in this book. Actually, this book raised so many new questions. I don't know. This book didn't really feel like a conclusion to a series, the previous one felt more like that. For the rest I also just felt like not a whole lot happened in this book and I was just a bit bored. I actually liked the ending to the show better. I feel like it answered more questions than this book did. I know that's going to be an unpopular opinion but oh well.

I really loved this. It's definetly my favourite of the series so far.

It is difficult for me to write a review of this book because of the speed at which I read it, only 4 pages a day. Additionally, there were a few breaks in the time I got to read it due to travel. That being said, it appears to be a good translation. Everything I said in my reviews for the English version holds true for this book.

I think this one is my least favourite so far.
I would've probably liked it a lot more if I read it when I was 8, oh well...
I think that the headmaster was way to unrealistic, and that the young me would have agreed.

I finally reached a point in this series that I never did before. I don't remember why I didn't continue this series back during my first read, but I'm working on it now. Progress, right?

Once again, the Baudelaires are sent to some terrible place because Mr. Poe refuses to take care of them along with his dreadful children. Apparently he doesn't have time to take care of them, nor find appropriate guardians that won't treat them like trash or will be smart enough to see past Count Olaf's numerous and tasteless disguises. No, this is a series of unfortunate events. We all should know better than to think that one of these books in this long journey will actually have a positive outcome for them.

Although, I will say that this was my favorite book so far because something good did happen in their lives. They met the Quagmire triplets - although they only had the pleasure of meeting two of the three - and became good friends in a hopeless situation. That was probably the best part of this book, because even for a moment, the Baudelaires found kindred spirits and the Quagmires gave them hope.

Of course that didn't last, but what did you expect?
