Saffron Skies

At over six hundred pages, this book is well-written and thoroughly detailed, but fails to ever really come around to a seemingly meaningful point. The story follows the lives of three friends from their early childhood through until they are around forty years old. Sections of their stories are powerful and draw the reader in with unique descriptions of various points around the globe, but the story never feels as if it has a point other than to articulate the ins and outs of life. If you don’t mind reading with no definitive plot structure and love detailed descriptions of interesting individuals going about their unconventional lives, then this would be the book for you.
