The Truth About Cowboys
Reviews

This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceI received this book for free from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. The Truth About Cowboys is the first book in the latest series by Lisa Renee Jones. Now this is my first time reading this author, and even though I have had this author on my wishlist FOREVER, I realized when I saw the ARC available on Edelweiss that I needed to grab up this book here and I am so happy that I did so. I will say that this book was so unexpected from what I would expect from this author. It definitely has much more steam than your typical small-town romance, but this is Lisa Renee Jones, and boy this book practically smoldered in my hands and I LOVED it. So this delicious book starts out with our heroine, Jessica, whose life has been trurned upside down. When her boyfriend cheats on her with his secretary, she decides to escape the city and rent out a small cottage out in the country but from the moment she arrives in the country, her life goes even crazier when she gets tangled up in the sexy cowboy Jason Jenks who is also a retired baseball player and had to give up the sport he loved to take care of the ranch and his grandmother when his parents were killed. Tensions are high between Jessica and Jason, but with an interfering grandmother, sexy entanglements and ...these two are about to have a wild ride.. This book was simply fantastic, and I had such a fun time with this story and honestly, I couldn't get enough of it. I definitely am planning on picking up more from this author very soon and as I have book two on my kindle ....I can't wait to grab that up. This story was probably the hottest of any contemporary western I have read and I adored every moment of it. We have such a delicious angst love story here and boy Jessica and Jason really go at it together and normally I have to be in the mood for this style of angsty love, but this really worked for me in a way I didn't expect. And the grandmother and her matchmaking efforts were quite entertaining. I simply adored her characters and seeing her connection with both Jason and Jessica and trying to bring them together even when they hated each other. "My asswhole grandson?" she teases "Why didn't you get mad at me calling him that?" I ask, rejoining her and setting my phone on the counter "Because your mouth says asswhole and your eyes say--oh baby" These two definitely go back and forth in their relationship and I was really fascinated by their entanglement when they were heated in anger or heated in sexual pleasure. They are both very stubborn and have strong-willed personalities, so no surprise they clash many times but the making up sessions are simply delightful. The plot though keeps you on your toes with seeing how Jason is trying to work through his financial struggles in keeping the ranch together from going bankrupt and Jessica in working on writing her book and finding the value in love with Jason. Overall I found The Truth About Cowboys to be a true gem of a sexy western that gives you all the delicious delights and sensual rewards...I can't wait for more!!
