My quest this year has been to read books I loved as a child and Dear America tops the list.

"Like the Willow Tree" follows Lydia Pierce, who is suddenly thrown into the world of being a Shaker. Her life experience is obviously very different from my own, which was always something I enjoyed about Dear America - I always learn a little something about a different time, different place, or different community from my own.

I really enjoyed this story and have always enjoyed Lois Lowry's writing, so my first venture back into Dear America was a double win!
