This was a really interesting book. I haven’t really read many cozy mysteries on a cruise ship but really enjoyed it. I found the pacing to be really good. There was ample opportunity to discuss specific details but there was still some sort of new development in every scene that continued to propel the plot.

The plot was great too. I found that there wasn’t much gore… but the actual death scene was described a bit grossly. The story was a pretty good mystery but i was able to figure it out easily. There were a few distractions but all the main players were present most of the story. A few questions were left unanswered and i could see the next book being based on them. Overall, the plot was great but the suspense was a lot less than other books i’ve read.

I’d have to say that my least favorite part of the book was the characters. This is awkward because the characters are usually the bread and butter for cozy mysteries. I unfortunately have issues with almost everyone… I didn’t really notice anything bad until the author lunch with the nonfiction author. I strongly feel that Tricia and company was pretty rude towards him when he first sat down as far as body language and such. He no doubt was able to pick up on this. They just seemed soo snobby and rude to him, instead of genuinely being interested in his books. I think his rude behavior was a direct reaction to their rude behavior. After this incident I started to noticed how whiney Ginny was and how rude Tricia seemed to be all the time. I’m not sure if this would keep me from reading more because I liked the setting and plot. I’ll have to try another book and see if the characters improve.
