Filled with emotions but it didn't affect the mystery portion of the plot. Written in first person which adds more depth and personal trait to the Harry Bosch character. Loved and enjoyed reading it. I just can't get enough of Harry Bosch.

This is the 9th book in the Harry Bosch series. This is the first book after Harry has left the LAPD and turned private detective. I gave it three stars because it was a good continuation of the series and a good crime/mystery to solve but it focused on a cold case that lacked urgency and Harry did something really stupid. Harry is driven and has a moral compass and integrity that he always holds onto but in this case he acted like he was owed justice, that he was above the law and better than the law, with no good explanation as to why - he had no real investment in the victim or crime so it didn't make a lot of sense as to why he acted as he did. I think the idea was that without the LAPD we was lost and that's been resolved at the very end which I won't spoil.
