The Trials of Koli The Rampart Trilogy, Book 2
The journey through M. R. Carey's 'immersive, impeccably rendered world' (Kirkus) continues in The Trials of Koli - the second book of the Rampart trilogy. Koli has been cast from his village and into the strange and deadly forest beyond. But he heard a story, once. A story about lost London, and the mysterious tech of the old times that was there. And if Koli can find it, there may be a way for him to redeem himself - by saving what's left of humanity.

Excellent storytelling. A bit more depth than the first one, and the split focus on the experiences of Koli and Spinner provide counterpoints.

I loved book 1 and I think book 2 was even better. This had a flow that was masterful and the characters got even deeper. Also, the gentle and loving nature that trans issues were dealt with in a world like that, just marvelous to me. I can't recommend this highly enough.
