As much as I loved The Holiday Swap, I enjoyed this one but was constantly debating whether to stop reading due to the annoying behavior of the male lead or push through. I am glad I did push through, it turned out to be a cute read. Our female lead is constantly facing difficult situations and still has the decency of trying to save the show and maybe their relationship. Right up until the last 20% of the story, the male lead was man child with no common sense and a tendency of abandoning anything good in his life the minute things don't make sense or they get rough. His dad gave him good advice and maybe he didn't have enough time to come up with a good song but it was something a 12-year-old would make. There are some good lessons along with the way. I would love to try another book from the authors.

This book contains almost every trope you could possibly want in a holiday romance from enemies to lovers to fake dating to sunshine meets grump. The central story and relationship is cute but the characters feel so one dimensional and it feels like the author was trying to accomplish too much too fast. There were multiple conflicts and a lot of essential backstory that felt rushed and almost unnecessary.

Fake dating? Check. Rivals? Check. What more can I say about this story about two singers on not-American-Idol who end up with such undeniable chemistry that the producers manufacture a relationship for ratings? I enjoyed reading this, it was such a fast and easy light read. The only downside is that reading this cute story really put me in the mood for Christmas! I would call this a warm, happy, light, fluffy, wonderful, good-feeling kind of read. You know what you're getting yourself into and the book delivers on everything you want from a holiday romance. My only gripe about the story is that the forces that be keeping them apart felt a little contrived- also felt like Max and Sadie (#Saxie) were jumping to some pretty dumb conclusions and working overtime to see the worst in each other. It will give you a little bit of whiplash- but I would say no more than your typical rom-com book. So does All I Want For Christmas revolutionize romantic comedies? Nope. But it absolutely will provide you with a heart-warming holiday story that hits the high points you would want. Many thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts!
