What a rollercoaster ride of a book!!! The treatment of black people in this book is incredibly hard to read and I wanted to throw the book against a wall countless times, but it's necessary to read it and understand the history and politics of that time period so this never happens again to anybody. I didn't know much about the war, confederacy, segregation, the klan and the history before reading this book and I spent a lot of time on Wikipedia reading and looking up things. I still highly recommend this book to anyone interested, but be aware of the content and the time the book was written. Now I want to watch the movie 🍿🎥 and continue in with "Scarlett" by Alexandra Ripley because of that cliffhanger.
