Georgia Wells was an exceedingly lucky woman and a very good actress. Her marriages and affairs were always well arranged, they began with a flourish and ended conveniently without a breath of scandal. But Albert Campion thought it strange that the conditions under which her menfolk were whicked from the scene appeared at times to be oddly similar. There was one very simple explanation hidden in a positive maze of peculiar facts and figures which took Campion some time and trouble to uncover.
