Short read, it felt like a part of “extended” version of Persepolis. But the book it self is a bit problematic, to say it mildly, it full of gender stereotypes and tasteless jokes translated from Persian and which common in Iran (fyi: I’m Iranian). Or else, I have to say I agree with this review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Short and hilarious.

Short and hilarious.

Of course, Embroideries is not as poignant and striking as Persepolis but I still enjoyed reading it a lot! I just love the mix of humor, sarcasm, satire and pervasive sadness used by Satrapi, not to mention her style and artwork! A great read.

I will read anything Marjane Satrapi writes

2.5/5 Very meh. There are some important questions raised, but almost none of them are discussed much and some very not okay things are not challenged enough. I think this one could've been stronger than it is.

5 stars and an A - this is a hilarious depiction of how life truly is and it also very accurately shows what happens with love and men and sex in tradionalist cultures in a humourous light. Really enjoyed this and I have to say, I fondly remember Satrapi's style from Persepolis and this continues in the same vein and it is indeed a delight to read.

An entertaining account of the love and sex lives of Iranian women.
