I think after reading this I'm mostly left feeling... disappointed? You don't get all the answers and I'm torn between if that's what's upsetting me or if it's just done poorly.
It feels so vague both in what's going on in the world and with the characters but at the same time repetitive and like it could have been an even shorter story, which admittedly might have been an attempt at motifs that simply didn't hit me the way it was intended to.
The writing was very bare, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but was notable when you're reading some of these incredibly grisly moments in language that doesn't lend itself to deep attachment.
The book only took two and a half hours to read, but I was reading it so sporadically that it took more like a week.
But props where props are do: When things first started getting really weird, I was drawn deeper into the story instantly. I just wish it had hit me a little harder.

This is one unsettling story. It all happens inside a bathroom during a hurricane warning , the four characters never leaving the claustrophobic bathroom until the end. Loved it! Although love isn't the right word, considering all the tension, horror and disgust that this story brings.

Really enjoyed this. Nice quick set up, external and internal stress points all established. I thought the idea of setting it in one room really worked, though i wasn't sure how this could carry a book for long. I was wrong, though it took the potential other worldly horror idea to turn the book into something more. I keep saying "book" as it is a novella, and easily digested in one long sitting.

A novella where an incredibly dysfunctional family finds themselves trapped in a bathroom during a tornado. Reading this felt kind of claustrophobic, but in a good-ish way? Like in a “oh shit, there’s no way I’m putting this down!” kinda way. It starts off somewhat nerve-wracking but quickly progresses into something much darker. It isn’t a book you can really summarize without giving too much away, though. This seemed like a necessary read as someone who has pretty much consistently lived in tornado alley and has had to hide more than a handful of times. . . . I gave it 4 stars because it’s a relatable atmosphere until it isn’t (but that’s when it really gets interesting).

Got halfway through it and stopped. So boring and repetitive. DNF.

What did I just read... Psychological thrillers have always been a fav media gente of media of mine and this book just makes it stronger. The only reason it's not a 4🌟 is mainly because I wanted more it if. But I can't wait to read more of this author
