See Me After Class
Reviews

See Me After Class is a story that I had heard some great things about so I decided to pick it up as I have been wanting to try out more of this author and wow I had no clue that this had an Austenesque retelling and I LOVED every part of that aspect. I just love a well-done "Pride and Prejudice" retelling and Meghan Quinn really knocked this one out of the park. I will say that my only issue with the story and the biggest issue that kept this one from a five-star is the pacing. For some reason, I had a hard time really getting into this one but I am glad that I stuck with this one as it eventually made it worth it once the "relationship" really go going. It was a bit more slow-building so it takes a while but I enjoyed seeing their chemistry build with each other and the whole grumpy hero totally worked for me and it definitely knows how to grovel, so well, that I think the heroine was too harsh on him. But I do wish there was more of a HEA, it just had more of an HFN feel to it. This was not a perfect book and not my favorite from this author, but I had a fun time, and the laughs, especially in the second half was perfection! I am intrigued by the side characters and seeing their stories in the rest of the series.

I liked this book. It was kind of slow, but the spice was good and Arlo/Greer were a fun teaching pair. The conflict was random and unresolved. Kind of just felt like they didn’t need it at all

*Received ARC in exchange for an honest review* Rating: 5 Stars! https://bookboyfriendsdoitbetter.com/ Honestly, before the 30% mark, I was dangerously close to DNF'ing this book. I just couldn't focus on it and I kept exiting out of the book and abandoning it for another book BUT once I hit 30% it was a complete 180. I despised Arlo. He annoyed me so much and I couldn't see how Meghan Quinn was going to get me to fall in love with him. Well...jokes on me because now I love him. I am completely obsessed with him. He is the type of character that is very closed off and no matter how much the heroine pushes, she will not be able to get him to open up. I fell in love with him *before* he even opened up. I don't know how but I am now in the Arlo fan club, thank you very much. Greer is definitely that quirky, spontaneous character lol, but she at no point gives off the I'm-not-like-other-girls vibe, which I completely adore. I was so hesitant to fall for her because I felt like there would come that point where she would 'not like other girls' all over the place. But fear not, she never even thinks that. Once I got into the story, the chemistry between the two of them was OF THE CHARTS. I could feel the hate/lust they felt for each other and I am living for it. I cannot get enough of it and would like a second book on them thank you. This book has definitely reignited my love for Meghan Quinn and I am excited to read more from her!

I loved every prank, joke and their dirty deeds. I couldn’t keep this book down for long.

This was the perfect enemies to lovers book 😍 Greer and Arlo were amazing and the sexual tension was there from the first moment they met. The side characters were wonderful too and I hope we can read more about them (especially Romeo and Stella’s story and maybe Coraline getting her HEA). I loved Stella, Keeks and Coraline, each had a different personality and they were so much fun together with Greer and their book club. Romeo and Gunner were amazing friends too, I really enjoyed their pranks and moments with Arlo. Greer was totally my favorite, she never backed out from Arlo’s harsh words and she always had something to say. I loved their banter, even if Arlo was a jerk at first. He had a lot of insecurities so it was nice reading his background story, because despite all of that, he was really sweet and always cared for her sister and friends. It was a really good book and I loved seeing Jason and Dottie from The Lineup, and I can’t wait to see if we have more stories of this group of friends.

Greer Gibson begins her teaching career at an exclusive high school in Chicago with enthusiasm and modern teaching techniques that rub Arlo Turner, the head of the English department, the wrong way. Arlo is a very traditional teacher, who uses an approach that Greer considers stuffy and old fashioned. Sparks fly when they are placed in adjoining classrooms and find themselves constantly faced with the others' infuriating methods. What makes things worse is the strong attraction they both realize that they have for each other, which complicates an already difficult relationship. See Me After Class is filled with characters that are stereotypical but also recognizable and fun as they fit into the school environment. Cora, Arlo's sister, is a particularly fun character who mirrors her brother's attitudes and then throws them back in his face. I had some concerns early in the story with the way the attraction the protagonists had for one another was displayed, as anger-fueled, hilarious pranks that turned sexual, but the feelings on the part of both characters were mutual and equal, dissipating my reservations as the book progressed. Overall, See Me After Class is an extremely engaging story with many laugh out loud moments balanced with tender feeling expressed by all of the characters - the most entertaining romance I've read in some time.

“Turner you’re disturbing my class. Mind keeping it down?” His eyes flash to mine, and I add, “If you’re going to partake in frivolous field trips, please move your group along rather than staying in the hallway.” His eyes sharpen. “We’re not going on a field trip. There’s a dead animal in my classroom.” “Are you sure it isn’t your lecture dying in there?” His lips flatten. “Cute.” “Dead animal, huh? Did you kill it with your boring teaching techniques?” I tsk and shake my head. “Death by English teacher, it’s a real threat in your classroom. Saw some support groups for your students being posted out on the bulletin boards. Might have been an animal today, tomorrow... who knows who’s next? “Are you done?” He asks deadpan. “Believe so.” I smile, all too happy. Arlo. Everything has a place and needs order. He’s known for his structure and takes being a top educator as serious as he is about his cardigans. Greer. A little messy. Lives life colorfully and a little against the grain. Loves her students and is a little unorthodox in her teaching AKA Greer is Arlo’s worst nightmare and his whole world has become unhinged. What you don’t see is she challenges him in more ways than one. Greer brings color, joy, intimacy and love into his life. “See Me After Class,” by Meghan Quinn is an enemies to lovers opposites attract teacher romance. It starts off with Arlo and Greer and a bad first impression. Toss in a little one sided prank war, stolen moments and chemistry that is hot as a 5 alarm fire.. you’ve got an amazing romantic comedy. At 19% I had to stop reading because I was laughing so hard I was in tears. Greer challenged Arlo, not as just an educator, but as a friend and lover. They broke each other down and built themselves back up to be better for one another. This was such a breath of fresh air for me to read and I loved every minute of it. Next to Arlo and Greer the supporting characters were just to die for. They were just as important to this story as the main characters were. Here’s hoping we see more of them in the future! It’s a top read of 2020 for me FOR sure.
