I had really mixed feelings about this book and this review is really just a rant of my thoughts and is completely unorganized. The concept was new and different from most books centered around vampires. I liked the whole idea of the past life/reincarnation thing, but the execution was not the best. I found myself really confused about a lot of what was going on. The "romance" between the main character (whose name I'm not even going to try and spell because it was ridiculously complicated) and Jack was extremely rushed and nonexistent until the end. The beginning was really slow and I feel like a lot of the filler could have been cut out. Main character didn't even know she was a vampire for half the book because she had no symptoms besides pronounced veins? Then all of a sudden at the end a ton of terms were hurled at me at light speed and I really didn't know what was going on. My one other pet peeve in this book was the constant name dropping of designers in the description of clothes. I really don't care which high end label each character is wearing in every single scene, it was excessive and irritating to read.

Throughout the book Jack and the main character talk to each other like 6 times. She goes with Oliver to a dance and ditches her best friend (who 11/10 will confess his feelings for her by the end of the series) to dance with *star struck eyes* Jack. They go through a memory/flashback that I'll admit is romantic, but then nothing comes out of it. Later at Bliss' party they just start making out and they still have talked to each other like a total of 8 times. Then, by the end she says she thought she was falling in love with Jack, but he was different than I thought and I just????? Falling in love with him??? When? Why? How? The same thing happened with Bliss and Dylan. At least they meet normally and actually seem to be kind of dating, but then Dylan and Mimi start making out right in front of Bliss and she's just like mmmkay Dylan come up to my room and have sex with me plz. I understand why Bliss was upset at the end of the book after Dylan died (no body so he will probably come back in the next book), but she's like so heartbroken over it and she dated him for like 2 weeks. Right after Bliss, main character, and Oliver work together to try and solve the mystery blah blah, Bliss goes right back to being friends with Mimi and completely ignoring main character? Main character says that she knows Bliss is weak and I'm going to help her be strong??? The characters just really weren't doing it for me in this book.

Not gonna lie... I totally loved this. Like Sue said... It's Gossip Girl on steroids and the mythology is amazing and I'm really a sucker for well thought out ideas and concepts.

I DNFed this book at about 64%, I just couldn't anymore. The premise of the book was really intriguing but the writing was so slow...The book is actually a quick read but because the author takes so long to explain things you become bored. I just can't be bothered to continue the series, there are too many better books out there for me to justify wasting my time with this one.

Ngl, was kinda confused throughout most of the book. It really picked up in the last maybe 30%. 
Still confused as to how everyone is related, tho.

2.5 rounded up. Is the author afraid to actually acknowledge the plot in her books? Your characters are vampires, it’s not a secret. It takes way too long to actually get into the book. Then the ‘plot twist’ isn’t a plot twist and she basically gave away the actual plot twist from when it was first mentioned. I’m hoping the rest of the series is better

My mum suggested reading this series because I just graduated high school and now have roughly 4 months to do whatever I want and this is a really long series that I could make my way through over that time.

When I first read the description I said to my mum "so this is just gossip girl with vampires" and let me tell you, it definitely lived up to that assumption.

It was fine, I'll read the next one because this seems like it was just the establishment of the world. I hope it picks up though or I might stop after the second. The characters feel really flat and unrealistic, they constantly do things that seem really out of character which makes no sense because this was the first book. They shouldn't be doing things that take me out of the story because they seem so out of place.

So this is actually a reread from many years ago, but I'm glad that I was able to find the book at my local library because I actually missed this series.

Like I've previously mentioned, I am a sucker for vampire books - no pun intended. I'm always looking for good ones, and with the popularity of vampire books lately, I know there are some that I will end up missing if they don't get as much publicity as others. Blue Bloods was one of those that I didn't hear much about in the public eye, but just so happened to come across it at my library many years ago. I'm so glad I did though because it is one of my favorite series about teenage vampires.

Well, okay maybe they seem to be teenage vampires, but that isn't completely the case.


  “One minute you could be getting a smoke in the alley on the Lower East Side with your friends, having drinks and dancing on tables in a popular nightclub. And the next minute, you could be dead.” 


I don't want to spoil the twist on these vampires completely, but let's just say that they were on the original Mayflower trip to Plymouth Rock, and that doesn't even begin to describe what else they have been through. Rather than staying in one form their entire lives, these vampires are able to go through cycles, where they live out their lives as one person, "die", and be raised again as another person. This at least takes cares of anyone being nosy and looking through many photos throughout history and finding a familiar face throughout the centuries. Am I right?

This was a good start to the series, and I'm glad I got to reread it and adjust my initial rating of the book. It could have been better, but I still love it. I can't wait to actually finish the series this time!
