I would have liked the mc's character development but it was made to be happened because of a man, which felt really shallow to me. the same support and courage could have easily been given to her by her friends who have known her for years. Yes, every person is different and we can grow because of someone we are in love with, and not necessarily because of our friends/family but here it felt tawdry. Now the romance. I liked their dynamic through the better part of the book, it was also a slow burn romance (my favourite) but by the end I was getting annoyed because of some things Elliot said to our mc. Their separation didn’t have any affect on me and I was just rolling my eyes while reading that. The last thing which really irked me was that author compared someone’s bad singing to a “jihadist attack”. Just, no.

** spoiler alert ** Spoiler alert review: easily readable, very funny, a bit YA (so very now) but you can't write chick lit [spoiler alert again] with the lovers not ending together because the girl makes the sensible choice of staying with her family in Nottingham (of all places) and not following the gorgeous, witty actor on his big break in hollywood. Not credible, and not fulfilling. Just saying.
