Jesse and the Ice Princess

Jesse and the Ice Princess A Sweet YA Hockey Romance

Fans of Kasie West and Huntley Fitzpatrick will fall in love with this sweet and heartwarming series. An ice princess doesn’t fall for the hockey captain’s charm. Charlotte has always known who she is. A figure skater with the talent to go all the way. A girl with an overbearing mother for a coach and a father who has given the hockey team he coaches one rule: Stay away from her. It should be an easy rule for the guys to follow, because Charlotte has one focus, one goal. The only thing that matters to her is what happens on the ice. If only it wasn’t for Jesse and his ability to always get his way. After he orchestrates a detention for her, he convinces the principal to have her serve it by helping the school’s losing team with their skating. She never expected detention to lead to being the team’s only hope of winning their big game, and not by coaching. Torn between two sports, Charlotte must figure out if giving up her new love of hockey means losing Jesse as well. Lose yourself in a sweet and clean romance with moving characters and an inspirational story. Jesse and the Ice Princess is the first standalone book in the Gulf City High series. 4.5 stars Jesse and the Ice Princess was just the story I needed! This book was a fast and fun read for me and I couldn't put it down. I'm a fan of sports romances and it was nice to get a YA one! It was fun seeing figure skating and hockey in one book. Charlotte has been skating since she can remember and she's good at it. So good in fact, that her mother has given up her job to train her. This takes a lot of Charlotte's time and causes many fellow students to see her as an ice princess. All she does is skate and misses out on a lot of "normal" teenage activites! Jesse loves everything that has to do with hockey, but the team he on isn't the best. They haven't won any games and that's all Jesse want to do. His life at home isn't the easiest and not many know everything he does outside of school. Jesse will do anything to make his team better, even if that includes the ice princess everyone isn't sure about. I loved the chemistry between Jesse and Charlotte. It wasn't instalove and she actually didn't like him in the beginning. Jesse and Charlotte had more in common than they thought and it was interesting to see Jesse determined to help Charlotte have some fun while helping his team. The title has Jesse's name in it, but in the end this really felt like Charlotte's book to me. She grows a lot in the story and starts fighting for what she really wants. It was interesting to see her stand up to her parents and say that skating wasn't the only thing she wanted. Even though I would've liked to have a bit more attention on Jesse's home life, it was nice that there wasn't a lot of drama in this story. The author let us know about his situation and hers, but the effects of everything wasn't over the top. I love reading stories like this and I can't wait for the next book!
