That ending,,,,,, of course the only thing missing in this drama was the mother showing up. This book started so slow, and it only picked up on the actual plot about 60% of the way through, 20 chapters in.

And after that, it was sooooo rushed, for a book so short, I wasn't expecting that much development, but so many things in the first half were honestly so unnecessary??? And the various twists didn't work, Lucas action's were so weird and out of character? 😭😭 I was thinking of giving it a 3 star but like,,,,, besides the vibes and the vampire themes, there's not much I enjoyed about the book, it was also so predictable so many times. 

Also the romance, I was not expecting romance, so maybe that's why I was bit put off by it, I do enjoy reading romance free books, but this one wasn't that. 

I just didn't care about their relationship 😭, like genuinely, did not care, why did we spend so much time on iiit, it was booooring, sometimes books don't need to have romance <3 but yeah, pacing was terrible, pretty boring at times, lots of unnecessary scenes and stuff, like I don't even know.


 Thought I would really love it so I'm a little sad, but the summerween readthon moves on :')

This was EXACTLY what I needed right now!! Honestly it hit every point for me, the characters were great, the story was so good, and the references spoke to my heart!

I honestly loved every minute of this book, I haven’t read a book in a good few months and this has absolutely kick-started my love of reading again ahhhh.

I may be biased for adoring this book so much as it IS about my favourite supernatural AND the MC’s are from Yorkshire like me but I had sooooo much fun reading this!! AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE RIDE THE LAST 40 OR SO PAGES WAS OMG! AMAZING!

As a longtime fan of vampires, I knew once I started this book I was going to really enjoy it and I wasn’t let down! Set in 1995, with references that really set the tone and sold the setting, we’re transported to New Orleans as Mina visits her sister, and soon after everything starts to unfold onto them. It had fun movie references, suspense that had me refusing to put the book down and characters I got attached to so fast and wanted to watch succeed! What I didn’t expect was how much the twists got to me, how shocked I was at some reveals and the emotions I felt as the story progressed and we learned hard truths about characters I had come to love. 

I genuinely came so close to real tears over this book, but they stopped and all I had was my heart clenching as I read on. I loved this book in its entirety, being pulled in from the first page. I’m a character driven reader most of all, and the characters had me hooked so fast with how developed they were within a fast story, and how natural they felt. Just *chefs kiss* to this whole book.
