The premise seemed interesting, but this was generally a let down for me. In general I feel like I got to know some people and their stories, some are somewhat interesting, others not so much, and I ended up caring about none of them. Perhaps it is also because the times have changed, and many of indecencies of the past are no longer taboos, thus making the story much less provoking as it perhaps once was. The most disappointing of all for me was that the historical background for the story added very little, if any.
