All of the energy that has kept my spine upright dissipates in an instant. I slump over and look down at my hands in my lap. A maid’s hands. Working hands. Chaffed and dry, despite all the lotion I put on them, the nails cut cleanly short, calluses on the palms. The hands of a much older woman than I actually am. Who would want these hands and the body attached to them? How could I ever think that Rodney would?

“Thanks, Molly,” he says. “Man, I wish all women were awesome like you. Most are much more complicated.”

My heart, beating at double speed already, alights and soars into the air. 

He is concerned. Concerned for me. I wonder if he’s going to kiss me, but then I realize how daft that is - kissing a fellow employee in the middle of the bar and grill. Of course he wouldn’t do that. But it’s a pity nonetheless.

i'm not rating this because that's not always something i do after reading a book. but i do agree with one of the reviews that the plot is really predictable, so towards the end of the novel, i just waited for the narration to confirm my guess. either way, i think it's lighthearted in the sense that the plot, as i've mentioned, is very predictable, but it could've been more developed(?). i had hoped to see more development in the making of molly's character, though.

I enjoyed so much 'The Maid'! This book was an absolute rollercoaster of a murder mystery, packed with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. Some of the surprises were easy to spot, but others caught me completely off guard.

What really made this book stand out for me was the character of Molly. She's a refreshingly unique narrator, and her unreliable perspective adds even more excitement to the narrative. Molly sees the world through her own lens, which can sometimes be distracting and even immature. Despite what others may assume about her, Molly has a genuine understanding of the world around her.

Overall, 'The Maid' is a captivating read that kept me hooked from beginning to end. If you're a fan of murder mysteries with complex characters and unexpected twists, this book is an absolute must-read!

first of all, this is my first book of thriller genre. is it good? it is fairly fine. did I enjoy reading this? mhm, I can tell yes.. I finished it during my work hours. but for me, it is an ordinary debut novel. I appreciated how the plot worked, but it didn't do wonder. thankfully, I never found myself got bored of it, because I just wanted to know where it would be going to. despite myself have predicted the plot; like the bad person, the circumstances, and anything extra, I kept reading only to prove my projection was right! and it was! 😂
The Maid seemingly like you watch murder puzzle but still, I don't get it.. why, why, why, the author make Molly The Maid to be framed of someone's abomination? that doesn't click in my head. I mean, to all intents and purposes she could make any relation to be the suspect.
and it is not quite right that Molly turned to be that dull. for someone who is twenty five, she absolutely capable to see the 'real world', could do something better for her own rather than trusting male friend who has an eerie image (according to me) and murky background?
I hate that she is *that* naive and clueless. while I was trying to comprehend her character, she was rather giving too much information of herself in place of showing us what she was capable of. the topic that happened in one book was way many, and they were utterly needless.
and there the ending was not satisfied. I wanted more but I got just enough. but if you wanted to read thriller, you can go with this. it also provided a little twist. that is all.

I enjoyed this novel to all its honesty. The maid is Author Nita Prose's debut novel and being an editor herself, her choice of words are excellent and spot on. The book is a mystery thriller but has a comedy ring to it as well. 

The Maid is the story of Molly Gray, also told to us by Molly herself. Molly is a Maid at the Grand Regency hotel, who's obsessive love for cleaning, orderly life and proper etiquettes, makes her an ideal fit for the job. But her orderly life is upended one day, when she finds Mr. Black, an wealthy businessman dead in his suite. Soon Molly find herself caught in a web of deception, when she is targeted to be one of the lead suspects. Will Molly be able to untangle herself from this mess and will she find who really killed Mr. Black before its too later... 

The character of Molly the Maid is quite quirky and a bit of a weirdo, her colleagues call her all sorts names. Molly is a sort of character that struggles with social skill, sometimes she also comes across as childish. She sometimes doesn't understand the meaning of things too. But behind all this uniqueness, I bet Molly the Maid is one such character you can't fail to love and admire to its fullest. Throughout the book you will across other beautiful and interesting characters like Mr. Preston, Juan Manuel and Charlotte. 

I also loved how the story is told to us over a period of a weeks time starting from Monday to Friday, narrating all the events happening on that day. Initially, I did feel that the book was a bit slow paced but mid ways I was totally hooked on because of the twist and the turns the book took. 

A highly recommended heartwarming thriller with lot of twist and turns mixed with a bit of comedy.

Not  quite sure how to explain that this felt both like every single whodunnit ever written but still somehow slightly unique at the same time…

This was a cozy whodunit and I really loved it all. The main character is (assumably) neurodivergent and her character is just amazing. She is straight forward, says what she means, and really lets you in as a reader. It was very easy to see the twist and turns coming, but it was still a fun read nonetheless.

it was really hard to get into the book. i personally found it annoying that Molly was so blind to se everything happening to her. i predicted who did it in like the first 100 pages but i wasn’t expecting how. it wasn't a good book it wasn’t a bad one either. 3⭐️

I really liked this book! It was an easy & quick read. But it kept me interested at all moments, I wasn’t quite sure what was going to happen or who would end up being “a good egg or a bad egg” the ending was a bit of a shock, but a pleasant one to say the least!
