No is Not Enough Resisting the New Shock Politics and Winning the World We Need
Reviews

As horrific as it is to have Trump as President, Klein shows how his election is part of the pattern of corporate dominance of the governing of the country, going back many years. This is a highly enlightening analysis. She also relates the shock politics (get everyone focused on a crisis, then make the changes to benefit corporations and the rich) currently used to past uses of these techniques. While the section on what to do is uplifting and hopeful, it leaves a lot yet to be figured out. Passionate leadership to harness people to take back their government is needed and no one seems to have figured out how to make that happen or stepped up to lead.

It was interesting to read this book right after the elections - right after the threat of impending doom of another four years of trump subsided. It feels like some of the hope Klein talks about might have actually paid off - but the current times and future president beg the question : will this be enough? I don’t believe it will.

I recommend this book to everyone.

I loved this book, although I feel like I am a bit late to the party since it was published a year ago. Still, it contains a useful and accurate (as we now know, a year later) assessment of Trump and neo liberal politics. For anyone interested in reading it, keep in mind she doesn' back up her claims with references and data like she does in her other books, because she wrote this book very quickly and it is based on her previous work (e.g. the shock doctrine, no logo). Overall, a very good book.
