Nova is the prince of his tribe and an acclaimed warrior in the fight against the humans. He is a lot more belligerent and hardhearted than Dracon. he can't believe his fellow Navarian took a human for a mate. Julia is an administrator for the mining company. When she is kidnapped by Nova, she is almost beaten to death before he stops it. He is not that considerate of her injuries and aloof from her opinions on the war. But as her kidnapping continues he finds himself worrying more and more of her health, injuries and the effect she has on his libido! Nova’s character was really hard to like to start with. Sure he was protecting his people and fending off the humans but he was a bit cut-throat! Julia seemed to be so naive when it came to "big brother" protocols when decimating other planets. It was also great to see Dracon and Amelia back in action, even if it was just a little cameo. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'm not really sure why I didn't devour this book on release day (or shortly after) as I usually do with Rebecca's books. I am glad I decided to read it over the weekend as part of my "Read all the Rebecca books" binge, though... even if I was a little apprehensive going into it. I honestly wasn't sure that "Nova" would be able to win me over. In the early part of the book, the more I read about him and his manwhorish ways, the less impressed I was. But that all started to change when I — and Rachel — began to see him more as Landon than Nova. He really was a good, sweet guy, even if I didn't necessarily at all agree with the way he chose to self-medicate after he left Rachel. I found that I really liked Rachel from the start. I especially appreciated how she didn't make it easy for him to get back in. She was extremely conflicted, but she stayed strong... until she couldn't any longer. Their breakup was a bit of a mystery in the book — and to me personally — for a large part of the book. If it was mentioned in Wilder, I guess I forgot the details. I remember the convoluted history they had with Wilder, but not the full story behind their breakup. It was obvious how much he cared for her — if you can look past his behavior after they broke up, anyhow — and she him, even though she was hurt. It was difficult to imagine what could've led them to break up . They complemented each other perfectly. The feelings were still there. They had plenty of passion. It just didn't make any sense. Until it did, anyhow. Despite my initial misgivings about Landon/Nova, he definitely wound up hitting my best of the best book boyfriends list before I was finished with this book. I loved how he was all in for Rachel once she arrived. It was wonderful to watch them work towards a fresh start together. Nova was a page-turner for me. I couldn't get enough of the gorgeous writing, amazing characters, second chance romance (which you know is my jam), feels and more adventurous aspects. I'm still loving The Renegades and I can't wait for the next book! FAVORITE QUOTES The problem with love was that once it was gone, there was no filling that hole, no substitute for that euphoria. Losing love came with withdrawal symptoms for which there was no known relief. "Because what I want is for you to look at me the way you used to, no matter how impossible that seems." "You are anything but convenient. I've had parachute malfunctions more convenient than you. You're the most frustrating, complicated, utterly addictive woman I have ever been around, but you are sure as hell not convenient."

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life 3.5 STARS I LOVE second chance romances but I’m not exactly a fan of them when the hero becomes a manwhore during the time he and the heroine are broken up. We previously met Landon, aka “Nova,” as Wilder’s best friend and a major player. We knew he was hurting from a past relationship and drowned himself in women to ease the pain, but when the truth comes out, it turns out that Landon was the one to break his heart and and the heart of the girl he loved. I went into Nova a little wary of Landon because I wasn’t sure he’d be able to redeem himself and his past mistakes. I was prepared for the angst and the groveling, and thankfully, Rebecca Yarros delivered just that. If you’re a fan of the second chance romance trope, then I would definitely recommend you give this book a try! My entire world narrowed to the woman standing in front of me. Even my heartbeat stilled in reverence to the moment. How was she here? After all this time, she was close enough to touch, and all I could do was stare at her, like if I blinked she would disappear. The last person Landon expects to show up on the cruise ship he and the rest of the Renegades are on is Rachel – the love of his life, the girl he abandoned, and Wilder’s ex-girlfriend. So messy, right? But Landon sees this as the second chance he thinks he doesn’t deserve, but he’s taking it anyway. There is no other girl for him but Rachel, and this time he’s going to prove it to her and win her heart again. I was going to win her back. Not just her friendship. Her heart. Her love. Maybe I wasn’t worth of any of it now, but I could be. I could earn her. Rachel was utterly destroyed when Landon chose the Renegades over her and their future. She vowed to never let him into her broken heart again, so she would’ve never accepted getting onto the cruise ship if she’d known he was onboard. Surprised is an understatement when she discovers that she’ll be around the boy who abandoned her again. She’s determined to stay away and not let him get under her skin, but how can she resist a Landon who is finally fighting for her love and their future? “I’m not going anywhere. If I have to tell you that a million times before you’ll believe me, then I’ll do just that. You and me—we’re own little infinity. Our forever is wrapped up in everything that’s between us.” I have to say I enjoyed Nova just a little more than Wilder. I LOVED Rachel and how she didn’t cave easily to Landon and made him honestly WORK to earn her forgiveness. She’s tough on him, and rightly so. My favorite part about the second chance romance trope is when the hero has to grovel and fight to win back his heroine, and Landon did an amazing job of that. I didn’t quite love the book as much as I wish I could’ve though, because I’m still not entirely invested in the Renegades and their story. BUT! I have high hopes for the rest of the series, and can’t wait to read Rebel’s book! Thanks to the publisher for generously providing me an ARC to review.
