The Friday Book of White Noise
The Friday Book of White Noise, a work of Fluxus word art, is a compilation of composition notebooks of ideas and event scores, a longitudinal workbook begun as a collaborative recording of two Fluxus artists, Bici Forbes / Bici Hendricks / now Nye Ffarrabas - and - Geoff Hendricks, an informal shared note pad recording of daily life observations, thoughts, concepts, and questions that often led to art pieces, performances, poems, and other writings. When their work and interests took different directions, Geoff branched out with journals of his own, while Nye continued the Friday Book and has now edited and annotated the present compilation. Fluxus is an ongoing lab for exploration in any and all the arts by a feisty international tribe of creative souls. In this context, White Noise is a variable, fluid, evanescent state of mind that playfully contemplates, and conjures with, anything that turns up, educing new meanings by setting old assumptions next to spontaneous scraps of thought that had never met each other just that way before. Event scores are scripts for performance art pieces, which can be a set of instructions or a proposal or rhetorical question that can be as simple and enigmatic as a single line of text. Additional essays have been contributed by Jane Alden, Ken Friedman, Bracken Hendricks, Hannah Higgins, John Killacky and Sur Rodney Sur.
