O Ódio que Semeias

A must read. Besides dealing with racism in a very honest and respectful way, showing many of the ways racism exists in this world, it has also an amazing cast of characters, with brilliant dialogues and a balance between the serious topics and the jokes that is sooo good. It was beautiful to see the family relationship from start to finish. And all the things Starr had to deal with while still being a teenager, all the range of emotions so perfectly portraited. Can you tell I love this book? I picked it up because of what is happening rn (and has been happening for a long time) and I put it down with lessons for life.

This book talks about a young black girl, Starr, that witnesses an event that will shake her world. The book talks a lot about racism and it gets us thinking and reflecting on how present in the world this subject still is. It took me some time to read this at the beginning and I actually paused it. But in light of recent events, I picked it up again and finished it being touched by the whole story. I really liked this book, especially because it's so moving and powerful, raw and real! I loved that it shows that we should use our voice because even if it doesn't seem like it, it's a lot of voices together that change the world.
