As with all of the "In Death" novels, this one has an edge and an interesting story. Eve is once again faced with challenges, this one involving an obsessed fan. The fan's motives and interactions with Eve raise personal questions within her about the people she has let into her life and how that affects her job and the way she lives. The best "In Death" books always have a personal stake for Eve beyond just the solving of the crimes. This is a very fitting 40th.
