I listened to the audiobook along with reading the physical copy. I definitely think that doing so added to my enjoyment of the book.

A ver, cosas buenas... Y cosas no tan buenas...

DNF - roughly stopped 100 pages in. I was hoping to love this book. I spent a year tracking it down, spent an obscene amount that I wouldn't usually fork over, and then sat down to actually read it. So far I've tried twice, and so far I've not liked it one bit. For starters, the names of the characters. Sure, I get that she's going for a theme, but there is such thing as TOO MUCH. It bugged me more than it should have, but it just irritated me every time a new character was brought into the story. The writing style I wasn't a fan of. Evie herself, not so much either. Didn't read much about Vincent, but I wasn't loving him either. Sure little bits were intriguing, wondering what her regrets were, but even though I spent a lot of money (usually a powerful motivator for me) I just couldn't slog through it all to the finish line. My favourite bit about the book was the cover. Otherwise, meh. But I'll try again one day, when I've forgotten all about those pesky seasonal names.

This book is a magically beautiful love story of a woman and a man who know there is an inevitable time stamp on their relationship. I started this book thinking it would be a bit of fluff before I got into something more substantial, possibly lengthy, but mostly exciting. It was supposed to be my filler book after finishing another beloved series that was mildly emotionally draining. However, once I began reading On The Other Side, I really couldn't stop. I literally power read straight through my Saturday and fell in love with every aspect of this book. Fletcher creates such relatable characters and the situations she throws Evie and her beloved people into is heartrending. You learn so much about yourself while reading books like this. You learn what is most important in life and what dreams you might have abandoned it that shoe box for someone else to find. Evie is the women I strive to be. To make the most of every situation I may be in and to love unconditionally every day.

I never really write reviews, but in this instance I was compelled to. I didn't hate this book, but I do feel it should have gone through a lot more rounds of drafting. My biggest complaint is the overwhelming amount of telling over showing. I should only see that in my college workshops, not in a book professionally published that I paid money for. I won't complain about the self-insert character. A lot of writers do this (oh hey Neil Gaiman), and while it annoys me, I can't fault Fletcher for it. That said, Jim was my favorite character, and I liked how the plot was executed. Tl;dr, this feels like a first book, which it is, but I do see some seeds of good writing here. I'll pick up another one of her books in 10 years and see if it's any better then.
