** spoiler alert **
           i loved the naive narrator and i loved the image of rural welsh life and families. i liked how mixed up and tangent-filled it was too. after reading other reviews i went back and read the start and the end of the book and i don’t completely understand it but still a wonderful book. 
the passage where after he says goodbye to his mother and cries was both beautiful and emotional and while not entirely the same it is a good description of grief.
