Overnight Sensation A Hockey Romance
Reviews

Love love loveeee Heidi Jo Pepper. One of my fave heroines!

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance Overnight Sensation is the latest release in the Brooklyn Bruisers series. I have been so excited for this series, and I got hooked on this series this past year and they are my favorite books by this author. There is something so dynamic about these books and the way that they just suck you right into a story. Overnight Sensation has a mix of forbidden love and fling and sexy hockey lovin'. Our story begins at the Bruiser's bar, where Jason and Heidi first meet up. Jason Castro is with his buddies at their local Hockey Bar, and he meets up with Heidi, funny and sweet and a bit too drunk. So he takes her to his place to sleep it off but there is an aftermath of that night. A horrible photo is released to the press, and now Jason realizes that as much as he likes Heidi and wants her in his life, he can't have her and there are demons in Jason's past that haunt him to a point where he can't see anything but death and pain in his future and doesn't want to risk Heidi. But Heidi knows that she and Jason have something special and she is willing to fight for it. Her life isn't full of roses and daisies and struggling with issues with her father and trying to find her own independence and figure out what she want in her life. There is so much goodness in this book and I just had a blast with this book, it was everything that I was hoping for and more. Now granted I wouldn't say its my favorite of the series, I did have a couple of issues but overall it was a enjoyable ride of laughter and character growth. Now I first want to mention how disappointed I am in this cover. The hero is hispanic descent and the model is way too white for my liking especially in the book he is described with much more darker skin so the publisher's art department failed with this cover in my book. But lets go onto happier things. Our heroine quite frankly is spoiled. Her father is rich but she never seems to live up to his expectations. She quite college because it didn't feel right for her. She is currently working as an intern for the Brooklyn Bruisers and hoping that Rebecca will hire her on permanently as the office manager but then her father steps in when he hears about her being drunk and since he is the comissioner for the team, Rebecca has to abide by his ruling that she works the little jobs of the team. From being a Valet or working as a ice rink girl or at the hot dog station, she is beginning to appreciate the value of hard work and also starts to develop her own side business to make money since her father cut her off from her funds. I love how that even though she did grow up spoiled, she works hard and is dedicated to what she wants in life and is a fighter. She also is upbeat, personable and has a cheery personality. She always has a smile for anyone she meets and I love her zest for life. Our hero, on the other hand is full of regrets. He lost his girlfriend in high school, when she was killed in an accident and he was away at a hockey game and he has regretted that moment and it has haunted him ever since. He doesn't have relationships ever, he just sticks with flings. But there is something he can't resist about Heidi and his resolve weakens but he isn't able to fully be her man until he lets the past go and open his heart to Heidi. Overall I found Overnight Sensation to be a endearing, fun romance that gave me all the feels and lifted my day....a true piece of art!!

I really enjoyed this book! Heidi is feisty and smart, Castro is brooding and hot. I also love the supporting cast of characters. This book had the right amount of romance, drama and humour, I say give this a go!

** spoiler alert ** THEY'RE SO CUTE ??????????????????????? I can't deal. Castro really caught my eye when he appeared in Bountiful. And Heidi is such a cute heroine. Can't wait for the next book in this series so I can feed off Heidi-Castro crumbs. Which makes me think, Is Silas next? P.S. I want a Katt Phone

This book was quite fun and exactly what I expected from a book by Sarina. The banter is hilarious and sexy, I love that Jason can play great hockey and also quote literature while Heidi is a total badass, who might be slightly low on confidence but is always ready to take on any challenge. I also enjoyed getting back to the world of the Brooklyn Bruisers, catching up with old favorites and meeting some new ones. I hope the author continues with this series because I love her hockey romances.

Now, I didn’t get around to reading it until a little later than I’d like because of real life. But, once I started it, I didn’t want to put it down. Heidi charmed me from the very start and I adored Jason. Who doesn’t love a Dickens-quoting hockey player after all? Heidi and Jason were so, so good together. I loved their friends-first, basically forbidden romance. Why forbidden? Well, she’s the league commissioner’s daughter and he’s a player. Her dad? Not the nicest guy, either. He’s a hard ass who is running her life and holding her inheritance over her head because he doesn’t approve of her choices. You know the type. But, enough about him. Heidi and Jason were delightful. I loved their banter and chemistry. It was impossible not to root for them. Bottom line: Overnight Sensation was a fantastic read. I’m not surprised. There’s a reason Sarina is one of my go-to authors. Heidi and Jason’s story was swoony, sexy and just fun. It was fun to watch them connect and, if I’m honest, just as much fun to watch Heidi grow. Naturally, we got glimpses into the lives of our other Bruisers faves. I’ve missed them. Now I’m going to chomp at the bit until I get Silas’s story. I smell a setup for a second chance romance… I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Favorite Quotes: “Um, when I said we were going to my place, I just meant—” “Sex! Dirty, filthy sex. Sweaty, clawing, pounding, burn-your-soul-to-the-ground-sex!” “Maybe I jinxed myself quoting Dickens during training camp. Like—now my whole season is going to be like Oliver Twist. ‘Please, sir. May I have a goal?'” I put my whole heart into everything I do. Sometimes the universe just doesn’t care, though. You can make a wish list as long as you like. And come away with nothing.
