The Devil's Son-in-law The Story of Peetie Wheatstraw & His Songs
Peetie Wheatstraw (1902 - 1941) was the name adopted by blues singer William Bunch. In the 1930s, he was a popular singer, guitarist and also had an idiosyncratic piano style. He was one of the most recorded blues singers and accompanists with a total of 161 recorded songs. His strength was not so much his instrumental ability, but his singing and lyrics, which dealt with topics such as alcohol, loose women, supernaturalism, gambling, suicide and murder.
