Bread and Roses
Bread and Roses is Paul Laverty's third collaboration with director, Ken Loach. In this screenplay Laverty explores the most marginalized of LA communities taking on their corporate bosses against all odds. Filming exclusively in the US and South America, Loach moves outside his traditional turf and creates a stronger film for it. Solidly grounded in political and social issues, the film takes on the double standards of the US, allowing Mexican labour to be bought at the lowest rates, yet providing no employee rights, and with the constant threat of deportation.
