I Was the Cat

I Was the Cat

Allison Breaking is a talented journalist with her own blog and a lot of bills to pay. So when she receives an offer from a mysterious stranger named Burma to write his memoirs, it's an offer she can't refuse, not even with all the red flags popping up. But Burma is quite literally unlike any man Allison's ever known—because he's a cat! And this cat has stories to tell about how he (over the course of a few lifetimes) has shaped the world—and another, darker story that Allison must risk all to uncover... a story of what this particular cat has been doing with the LAST of his nine lives.

Hoo boy... Like Sisters, I Was the Cat is another Netgalley ARC I read a long time ago, but never got around to uploading a review for. However, now I am correctly that two year lapse! I was attracted to Tobin's book because who doesn't like a good story about a cat? Particularly cats with an eye to world domination! The book isn't filled with many surprises. Burma is telling his story to a journalist about his many lives and many conquests, and of course this is in preparation for his latest attempt to take over the world. However, even if you know where the narrative is going, who cares? It's a fun story regardless, though our reporters broach the "unbelievably naive" line when they act surprised that Burma is quite an evil dude. The art in this volume is also quite strong and detailed. It tends towards realism with just some cartoonish features, and, unsurprisingly, portrays its feline mastermind quite nicely.

I really liked this one . It is a bit funny and the art is pretty nice. It isn't the kind if graphic novels that I would usually read but I quite enjoyed it .
