Just want to note that my rating is based on my overall enjoyment of this book, not based on the historical accuracy of the information contained within, as I am clearly not an expert on the history of England.

I have always been fascinated by England's history; more specifically the monarchy. This may be in part because as an American, I have no experience and little knowledge of monarchial society. Therefore, its interesting to me because it is different from the society that I reside in. 

This book was wonderful. I feel as though it was an excellent work to begin with on my quest for more knowledge of England's history. The writing and information just flowed very well; I almost felt as though I was reading a novel rather than a historical text. I very much look forward to reading more of Ackroyd's work.
