Voy a comenzar diciendo que este libro no es para NADA lo que esperaba. Sinceramente pensé que sería algo súper cringe, pero terminó siendo un libro muy bien trazado y con una base sólida de personajes, historia y plot. De cualquier manera, siento que definitivamente no es un libro para todas las personas principalmente por todo el asunto de la p*rnografía; aunque las autoras tratan de tocarlo desde una perspectiva más open mind e incluso mencionan al feminismo, para mí y para mí forma de pensar no hay tal cosa, porque al final de cuentas quienes consumen este contenido son generalmente personas machistas. Pero bueno, ese es tema de otra cosa. El punto es, que se agradece que no hayan tocado este plot desde una perspectiva machista, debo admitir que hubo buenos puntos mencionados que te ponen a pensar. Pero sí, definitivamente tendrías que dejar tu lado crítico para poder disfrutar esta historia. El primer punto que me sorprendió demasiado fue la GRAN química palpable entre Logan y Devi, realmente se leía sin una pizca de forzamiento, todo fluyó muy natural. Y de hecho, fue como si en mi cabeza estuviera viendo una película de todo el libro (vale, no vayas ahí que sabes que no me refiero a ESE tipo de película), porque en serio está tan bien estructurado todo que es como leer el guion de una ron-com. A pesar del trabajo del que se hablaba fue interesante ver a ambos de hecho, preocuparse por hacerlo bien. Y no me refiero del tipo solo f*llar bien y ya. Si no, que por ejemplo Logan, que le interesaba realmente hacer tomas artísticas, que no estuviera todo concentrado en bueno, f*ollar. No sé qué tipo de investigaciones se armaron las autoras para hacer este libro, pero debo admitir que la idea de srtar-crossed no fue nada mala. No sé si realmente exista algo así, pero si no, wow. Pueden vender esa idea de lo buena que es. Me encantó la frescura del personaje de Devi, sin duda un personaje memorable, porque no es nada superficial. Me encantó el aspecto de contar sobre su cultura cuando podía y que ni una sola vez se avergonzara de ella. Debo admitir que el clímax de la historia no fue del todo de mi agrado, sentí que Logan iba tan bien hasta ese punto, que en un par de capítulos me decepcionó un poco lo que decía. Pero supo compensarlo con lo que hizo al final. El desarrollo de ambos personajes fue muy bueno y paulatino. Nada más que decir que este es un libro del que no esperaba mucho y terminó sorprendiéndome gratamente. Me pescó de principio a fin, tanto que me lo acabé en un día. Mis felicitaciones a las autoras por su forma de escribir que te tienen atrapada en cada capítulo y no te sueltan hasta el final.

** spoiler alert ** creo que forma de explicar este libro de manera superficial y rápida sería: dos actores porno se enamoran y pasan cosas. a ver, no soy tan open-mind como me gusta pensar, y siento que un libro de romance enfocado en dos actores porno puede que me haya hecho ruido y no me animara a querer leer esta historia. Sencillamente no estoy de acuerdo con esa industria, porque aunque no lo hayan mostrado como algo malo ni como algo bueno, sino como lo que era: un negocio donde se le pagan a personas para que tengan sexo frente a una camara; siento que no todo el mundo podría disfrutar de esta historia, y creo que muchos podrían sacarle mil y un cosas que se pueden ver mal. creo que de todas las cosas que pudieron abordar las autoras, y más allá de la construcción de los personajes, siento que mi cabeza se enfocó en algo más superficial pero que no podía dejar de lado: no sé cómo sea en la vida real, pero... qué locura eso de estar en una relación con un actor porno, porque entiendo que una relación no puede limitarse a solo sexo, pero si está un poquito feo saber que esa persona a la que amas está todo el día grabando con otras personas. y creo que es todavía peor cuando la otra persona también está dentro de la industria. o sea... parece más una relación abierta que cualquier otra cosa, y qué difícil es para ambas partes cuando entra el asunto de los celos y compromiso; porque bueno... al final ese era el trabajo de ambos, y me parecía un poco tremendo, como tu trabajo literalmente podía interferir directamente con tu relación. Es sencillamente incómodo y difícil de dirigir, y siento que era totalmente compresible no querer aceptar esa situación, porque ajá tu novi@ se está acostando con alguien más. siento que Devi fue tremenda reina, cargo con el libro ella sola. Siento que fue un personaje con el cual era fácil conectar. y moría de la risa en las escenas donde estaba con sus padres. qué familia tan divertida. por otra parte, Logan me dio IGUAL, incluso me atrevo a decir que me cayó un poco mal, pero... literal quería lo mejor de ambos mundos: seguir en la industria del porno y acostarse con mujeres hermosas por más falso que fuese el asunto, y mantener un compromiso con Devi. Claro, el hombre no quería tener aquella discusión, porque al final él que salía perdiendo era él porque ya no tendría la excusa de acostarse con alguien más. Y no lo sé, sentí que toda su personalidad se basaba en amar con locura la pornografía, y eso no me pareció realista. O sea... ¿Tan vacio te sientes como para decir que ese industria es tu mundo? Siento que en la vida real, le preguntaran a alguno de esos actores qué les gustaría hacer con su vida, creo que dirían cualquier cosa que "hacer porno". Para mí, esa gente se queda o por dinero, o porque ya no saben en qué otra cosa son buenos. No lo sé, capaz tengo un pensamiento muy equivocado al respecto, pero esa es mi percepción. En fin, ¿El misterio del nombre verdadero de Logan? Qué estupidez que se llamara Dayne Johnson. O sea......... mira no.

This was a fun read for sure. Loved every minute of this story. It was light, easygoing and straight to the point. Both Logan & Devi were easy characters to love especially with the age gap which of course caused some friction but what’s love without some complications along the way. Smutty, funny, angsty & swoony is what you’ll get from this book, I mean it’s about porn stars come on. Just read it.

This Book Shattered ALL My Expectations 4.5/5 While the plot execution could have been a bit better, the incredible romance/chemistry between these two characters more than makes up for it. I loved how they acknowledged that sex with other people can feel good! I think that so many romance books pretend that sex can only be good if it's with someone you love, but this book didn't do that. Instead, the authors used the premise to show that sex with someone you love can be SPECIAL but sex in general can feel amazing too. The spice was WELL-WRITTEN and this book had the perfect amount to match the premise. Overall, I loved this book and I am excited to continue reading books by these two authors!

And then when I heard it was going to be about a porn star? Well, I had to see for myself what this book would be like. Porn Star actually surprised me – the authors’ take on the porn industry was interesting, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. I thought this book would be sexy and fun and light-hearted, but it turned out to be more than that. This won’t be a read for everyone, especially if you don’t like your characters being with other people, but otherwise, Porn Star was a well-written, unique, fascinating take on the life of a person in the porn industry. The fantasy of being in love. Jesus. I scrub my face with my hands, feeling liberated and also feeling pathetic. Who in this selfish, indulgent, spray-tanned city would ever guess that Logan O’Toole has a chewy caramel center? That under his I’ll-fuck-anything-that-moves veneer, there is a guy who just wants to love someone? Logan O’Toole isn’t your typical hero. He isn’t even your typical guy. He’s a famous porn star who’s been burned by love (a woman who also works in the porn industry) and he’s quite the sensitive soul. He may be be all sexual and alpha in bed and while filming, but outside of that, he’s a normal guy who genuinely wants to find love. And he actually takes his job, not only as a porn star but also as a director, writer, and editor, very seriously. We get a lot of depth and information about this industry, and while I feel like the book focused too much on that, I did appreciate how it made the book feel more real and authentic. Devi Dare went into the porn industry because she needed the money, but she only does girl-on-girl porn. The one time she was with a man was with Logan an his ex in a threesome a few years ago, and since then she’s never really been able to forget him. Lucky for her, Logan feels the same way about Devi, and the two agree to film a porn series about a couple falling in love. So what happens when real feelings get involved along the way? Can a relationship in the porn industry actually work… and last? My theater teacher in high school liked to talk about the unities, where time and place and action all converged into one point. Well, Devi is my unity right now. Drawing my body and my mind and my heart into a single, crystalline point, fusing all the disparate Logans into one bewitched, infatuated man. I’ve fallen for her. My heart actually hurt a bit for Devi and Logan as they were navigating this new relationship balancing sex, porn, and love. When both people in a relationship aren’t on the same page, one of them is bound to get hurt. The problem here is that Logan doesn’t see anything wrong with doing porn with other women while having a relationship with Devi, but Devi eventually realizes she does. Even though I personally don’t agree with the way Logan views sex and love, I did understand him, but I really wanted him to open his eyes about love and Devi a lot sooner than he did. Again, if you don’t like your main characters being with other people, this book won’t be easy to read. The highlight of this book is definitely the writing, with the steamy scenes coming in second. I adored Devi and felt for her and her struggles, and while I liked Logan, I wanted to shake him sometimes. This story really felt like an honest take on the porn industry, which was fascinating, buuut I didn’t really like all the time Logan spent with other women. If you’re looking for something well-written and different from your typical read, I would definitely recommend Porn Star. Thanks to the authors for generously providing me an ARC to review.
