The first maybe 20% were so ??? for me, it felt like all the characters did was betray each other and it was so angsty for so long i grew tired of it after a while. I understood why these things were done but they kinda felt a little repetitive. It picked up after that so much that i had trouble stopping!! It was one plot point after plot point and i loved that pacing of it! Things i loved: -Levi and Enne’s relationship obviously. Again in the beginning of the book, their relationship was so rocky after what happened at the end of king of fools, but they slowly start to get back to each other and learn to trust each other again and i just love them so muchh -Grace and Enne’s friendship. They’re always there for each other, and grace never abandons Enne even after she messes up multiple times -That scene when Poppy tells Enne “she knew she had a north side boy” just because i’ve been waiting for it since forever. -Every time Levi called Harrison Pop ssdgjkdsl -The plot twist at the end was so heartbreaking but so brilliant at the same time??? -The relationship faking scenes even though they were so angsty. -Grace and Roy’s relationship. Im going to be forever bitter about this -Lola’s brother development!! I was ready to throw hands with justin at the beginning but i really loved how his character came to be and when he and lola actually talked!! -Lola’s character arc was not one i enjoyed but i really understand her reasons for everything so i couldn’t bring myself to hate her. I loved how she realized she cannot judge people based on their worst version when they’re reduced to fear and anger, and i loved her understanding how looking at things from outside she can never understand people’s decisions. -Lola and Tock!!! Even after everything they went through they’re the bestttt Im probably forgetting lots of stuff because this was so fun to read and i really enjoyed how everything wrapped up at the end!!

** spoiler alert ** this wasn't my favourite ending.... it wasn't paced and the overall time spent to destroy the villain was really short and rushed and didn't feel well developed enough. The reveals were interesting but i think there was really big plot hole which contradicted information from the first book and that made further reveals seem convenient. The wrapping up too seemed kind of bland. Harvey was the most frustrating character to read from ever and although Lola was a favourite from the last book it was hard to root for her. They did my girl Grace dirty -_-

A fantastic conclusion to a whirlwind of a trilogy. We are welcomed back into the City of Sin after the catastrophic events that is the ending of King of Fools and led on a nervewracking journey with lots of unexpected twists, some predictable revelations and am ending that feels too convenient but satisfying and justified. I loved reading this series and so glad I finally found the time to finish it. Amanda Foody's writing still grips me, and the world she has built in these books is one I'm going to remember for a while.

(This is a review for the third novel of a trilogy, so it will contain spoilers for the first and second ones) After the turmoil at St. Morse Casino, the characters find themselves forced into a new deadly game, devised to create enough chaos to summon The Bargainer after they disappeared from all but the minds of Sinners. The players are the twenty-two most prominent and infamous people of New Reynes. In this dangerous new reality, Enne and Levi will do anything to survive. But while Levi charms people with fake smiles and faker promises, Enne has to face a world where her Mizer identity has been revealed, and any misstep could have deadly repercussions. By introducing a new set of characters and plot-lines through King of Fools, Foody was able to maintain the tense, all-or-nothing atmosphere from Ace of Shades into Queen of Volts while introducing new perspectives into the story. Nevertheless, the vast number of plot-lines caused some to be momentarily ignored or rushed in favor of others. The new POVs, on the other hand, were an exceptionally successful way of presenting information and introducing new characters, their backstories, and motivations. The way this novel deals with pain, grief, and trauma is simply brilliant, the emotions are felt so sharply, but they are also addressed, looked at, and discussed. Queen of Volts excels at the description of platonic and romantic relationships. However, when emotions run high, bad decisions are made, relationships fracture and the emotional turmoils were authentic and personal for each character. Amanda Foody's Shadow Game series delivers deadly games, criminal masterminds, mystery, betrayals, and action, just as promised. It is full of gangsters, lies, plot twists, and brilliant lines. Furthermore, there is such an immaculate denouement in Queen of Volts, where the new characters introduced unique and enticing views on the City of Sin and its legends, both the living and dead. ••••••••••••••••••••••••📜•••••••••••••••••••••••• 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 - 9.5/10📕 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 4.5/5 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 - 5/5 𝐏𝐥𝐨𝐭 - 5/5 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: Extreme violence, Death, Grief, Attempted suicide/Suicidal ideation, PTSD, Toxic and abusive relationships, Addiction, Emetophobia.

This is definitely my favorite book series ever.... wow I'm shocked... I didn't get bored one second so much happened plot twist on plot twist until the end! The worldbuilding and magic system were well done and well explained. The politics and the gang system of the world were chef-kiss!!! The characters have grown so much in 3 books I got so much attached to these morally grey characters. Enne does a lot of questioning things at the beginning of this book but it's an answer to her trauma after everything happened it is still logical. This girl fight until the end. Glad to fully know her parentage! Levi did a lot of missteps in the last book but he was on in this one. Seeing him and Enne hating each other for a while was heartbreaking but it got them an ever-stronger relationship at the end Grace my fighting girl was done dirty... I quite liked Sophia in the last book but I loved her in this one her attachment to Poppy is really cute and the revelation about her entire identity was so good! Lola... she broke me in this book how she realizes she only lived for the others Enne, her brother... how she did not feel part of the plot which lead her to a poor bargain to know everything. Glad she had a good ending. Harvey, I never thought I would sympathize with him that much... What a poor soul... How he is torn even in his belief (faith) and his toxic manipulative relationship with Bryce... I'm glad about his ending he deserves it. Amanda Foody is definitely one of my favorite authors I will read everything from her watch me!

Queen of Volts was my least fav because there’s a lot of characters mad at each other and I just wanted them all to work together lol u know? Cause it’s the last book! I wanted more found family moments. Felt like the angst was better fit for a middle book but it was still a great ending! Levi and Enne were the heart of this story and two characters I love so much and well, I just love morally grey characters. You know when you feel mad at the good guys and feel bad for the bad guys... You feel heartbroken for the ones who have done terrible things, for the ones who just want to be good in a city that seems cursed, for the ones who never asked for it, for the ones who did what they had to in order to survive.

I have to admit it took me a while to get into this book and I did find it quite slow and perhaps unnecessarily complicated/convoluted but I was overall happy with the ending and am very glad I read it. I do like Amanda Foody's books and the characters are very endearing. I care about all of them.
