It Didn’t Start With You by Mark Wolynn

THE LOWEST RATING IMAGINABLE. If I could give this a zero I would instead its a 0.5 star.
If you have history of abuse and trauma do not even bother reading this book, it felt like an absolute kick to the gut. Within the first 10% the ideal of "forgiving your abuser" comes into play and its extremely dismissive of past abuse, saying you should just forgive as an "adult child".
I don't want to say much more but this is not worth it, I had to DNF this as I found it to be extremely detrimental, if you have childhood trauma and are looking for a self help book to aid you on your journey then I urge you to go pick up "Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: How to Heal from Distant, Rejecting, or Self-Involved Parents" By Lindsay C. Gibson instead. I found that to be the most scientifically backed and well written books on this topic. Instead of shoving idealisms down your throat it actually provides advice and tools to understand more deeply and you can chose what you want to do with the information.
Don't even bother with this.
