So so so dark and beautiful. This was super hard to read because it was so sad and the subjects were so hard hitting. But it really left and impact and I will never forget this book. The author really drags you into the story, and you connect so much with the characters while reading this that it honestly makes it feel so real.

If I thought Tears of Tess pushed me out of my comfort zone, this one basically pushed me over a ledge. Just. Wow. It's dark and twisted and amazing. I'm not even sure how to review it because I absolutely refuse to give anything about this book away, so I'm basically just going to talk about how it made me feel. My review might be a little spoilerish for anyone who hasn't read Tears of Tess, so keep that in mind before going any further.

When Tess returns to Q at the end of Tears of Tess, I was overjoyed. By that point, I had started to love Q just a bit myself. She was right to leave her old life behind and continue her path of self-discovery, love and lust with Q. Brax was boringly vanilla and, despite their history, not a good fit for Tess. Q had given her freedom: freedom to be herself and express the desires she actually has. Tess and Q aren't the cutesy little couple you fall in love with easily as you read. They're dark and damaged and desperately need each other. There's more than lust between them, though their dark desires definitely play a part in making them who they are – and in making them so right together. No, it's not my type of relationship, but that doesn't make it any less real. I was excited to read the next chapter in their lives to see how they moved forward with each other.

I didn't know then, and I still don't know what I need to finally get through to you–" I leaned forward, trying to get close enough to kiss him. He stiffened and his hold gave no room for movement. "–but I'll never stop. I was right. You're worth every fight. Every argument and bump in the road. I'll fight because I'm falling for you, Q."
  

Quintessentially Q was phenomenal. Intense. It was full of ups and downs and I was often left on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would happen. I'd hoped Tess' traumas were over after Tears of Tess, but I was wrong. There was still more to come. I truthfully wasn't sure my brain, my gut or my heart could handle this book. It took me through all the emotions. Made me feel everything. All the feelings. It left me mentally and physically exhausted, but in the best possible way. The characters are incredible. We see a different side of Tess in this book – one that left me gutted at times. Q … Q makes me melt. He's deeply devoted to Tess and goes above and beyond proving it in this book. It's amazing, actually, the lengths he goes to. It might be strange to call him romantic, but I think once you read the book you might understand why I would call him just that.

Since the book is told from both Q and Tess' POV, we learn more about what makes them tick. It was a real joy to get inside Q's head in Quintessentially Q. He was such an interesting, enigmatic, complex character in Tears of Tess. I had a difficult time getting a full read on him. It took some time for me to warm up to him. In Quintessentially Q, however, we're treated to his POV so we immediately know more about him and his thoughts, feelings and desires. And, if I'm being honest, I have to say I fell head over heels in love with him in this book.

I simply can't wait to see what happens next in this series. What I do know is that whatever it is, I'm probably not going to be mentally prepared and I probably will want alcohol to deal with it. 

Just. Wow.
