This is an excellent vampire series. The vamps are real monster types not watered down love sick girly boys! The characters in this series are very well developed. Beware, the books end on cliff hangers so you will want the next one in the series so you can find out what happens next.

I usually like this kind of books, but this one makes me sleepy. I had been wanting to read it for a while - ehm, two years - but after six chapter the only word that my mind shuts at me is: annoying. Terribly annoying. And I ay thi as a fan of the genre.

At the moment I'm not quite sure how to feel about this book. It was good, but I still kind of didn't like it. I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series, I just need a little bit of break of it first.
The book was definitely quite dark and the ending was absolutely shocking. I would have liked a little bit more romance in it and maybe a one nice vampire... But yeah, all in all, it was good start for the series.

This is a fun little mindless read where vamps are definitely the bad guys. It takes place in a college town where students have a tendency to disappear. Claire is a underage student, attending the college in Morganville because her parents strongly believe she’s too young to go any further from home, but they couldn’t have sent her anywhere more dangerous. However, the most dangerous foes facing her aren’t the vampires; her deadliest enemy is Monica, the ruling queen of the mean girls. When Claire makes a desperate attempt to escape the death waiting for her in the dorms, she finds a new home in Glass House, along with three new besties.

The Morganville Vampires series isn’t the epitome of literature, but it’s fun. Each book is pretty short, short enough to knock out in a day or two. It feels incredibly late 90s, early 2000s, and reminds me a lot of Buffy but without the slaying. (Just look at that cover and you'll see what I mean!) The main character is cute and funny, as are her housemates. If you decide to read this book, make sure you have the second book waiting in the wings, because it ends on a hardcore cliffhanger.

This would be the first book of many in Rachel Caine's, The Morganville Vampires. This was not a 5 star introduction to the series, having read up to book 15 (WOW!). But at the time, when I hadn't read the others, this was an amazing book. Claire was is such a strong character! For being a 16 year old graduate and going off to some creepy town, knowing no one, is pretty damn strong. Of course at first, she feels alone and vulnerable, and I think thats what really made me connect with her. We have all felt that at one point in our life. The way she handles it and just sucks it up and tuffs through, it really is an inspiration and I usually don't get inspired by vampire books haha! Then of course there's the romance, which is sweet and nice and of course, Shane the 19 year old, who is very reluctant to start anything with Claire because .. well... SHES ONLY 16! and so of course he tries to stay away, but when does that ever work ;) The only thing I find that wasn't " 5 Stars" was the fact that I sometimes skimmed over parts. Thats it though!

I found this book pretty mediocre. Some parts were exciting but a lot of it felt pretty boring. It definitely had the feeling of a first in a series, lots of build up and very little action. I will probably continue with the series though as I did like the characters and am intrigued by the world that is emerging.

I can't believe that I've had this book for way over a year, and I never once thought about picking it up. Oh my gosh, I'm so stupid! I finished this book in one sitting......it's just so addictive!!!

Claire Danvers is sixteen and uber smart, but , going off to college at that age is freaking her parents out. So, rather than letting her go to one of the top schools far away, they think it would be good for her to stay closer to home. They have no idea that sending her to Morganville is a really bad idea. Claire never believed in vampires until she moved to Vamp USA, and now she may not get out alive. I almost gave this book 3 stars instead of 4. I really liked it, but not the narration so much. I think I will just read the next ones.

           This was one of my favorite books growing up. I'm glad I read it when I did because otherwise I would've missed that feeling of being on the edge of your seat while reading, closing the book and staring off into space as you yearn for the next one. 
 Reading this as an adult is a different story. This is one of those frustrating novels where if certain people would just stop being idiots and thinking they're invincible we all could've been fine by page 50. Instead Claire spends her days running around, breaking and entering, and repeatedly getting jumped because she won't just pack her little girl genius self up and go home. It's kind of funny being 23 and rereading this because Michael, Shane, and Eve are 18/19 and they're all supposed to seem really grown. I guess the trauma and everything of growing up in a vampire infested city would cause an early maturity, but I just think it's funny that they're expected to be taken so seriously by Claire's parents and then by Amelie. Also, where the hell were Clarie's parents while the Glass house was being attacked for hours by a hoard of vampires and cops? It's a small town, are they just sitting in their hotel room reading a book while watching the fire truck and cop cars flash their lights and going "ehh, interesting", because most parents would've seen that and gone to worst-case-scenario. The insults are also so early 2000's in a cringe-y way, but I think I will always remember this novel. 
 This is also one of my first audiobook reads and it wasn't bad. It's not the same as reading a book though, at least to me, so that's why I have another shelf for now.

I'm a sucker for vampire books, let me just get that out of the way.

I always enjoy it when I find another good vampire series to read and fall in love with. Some of my absolute favorites are the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead and the House of Night series by mother/daughter duo PC and Kristin Cast. If you haven't had a chance to read those yet, I highly recommend them. I plan on doing a reread and writing my reviews on here when I get to them.

So anyway, back to this series.

I can't really call it "new" when the first book was published in 2006, but it's new to me. I haven't really heard much about it growing up, and I never came across the book in the library before now. I'm so lucky that my new local library has the entire series on audiobook since they don't have all the books in physical copies for me to read. That at least gives me a chance to make some progress on them.

This was a good start to the series. It wasn't amazing. It didn't blow my mind or have me wanting more immediately, but I enjoyed it. The idea of an entire town being controlled by vampires without the rest of the country knowing is actually pretty terrifying. All Claire Danvers wanted to do was go to college and have a little sense of independence since her parents refuse to let her go to a school that's actually worth her time.

It's not like she wanted to worry about mean girls trying to kill her, and the entire vampire population thing going on. She just wanted to get her sixteen and a half-year-old self into school so she could transfer to one of her dream schools in about two years.

Honestly, the best part of this book so far is the snark between the main characters.

That's what got me through this book without giving up completely. But I didn't write the entire series off, so there's gotta be something I'm enjoying, right? Okay, I give. It's Shane and Michael. And Eve. They are my favorites. Precious people that only want to protect Claire and her innocent little self from making terrible mistakes. We need more people like Eve, Michael, and Shane in the world.

That's really it, honestly. Like I said, it was a good start, so I'm hoping it gets better.

Si, lo so, l'ennesimo libro sui vampiri. Devo dire che la storia mi è piaciuta molto, il tipo di vampiri che troviamo, il fatto che siano come dei boss e che tutti debbano avere la loro protezione l'ho trovato fantastico e originale!
Alcune scene sono state un pò veloci, ma oltre questo è stata una lettura molto carina e veloce. Sicuramente continuerò la serie!

I couldn’t finish it. In my personal opinion, this book has not aged well. The small “community college” environment that is portrayed gives more of the vibe of a bully-centric high school than of a college. I couldn’t connect to the main character, as most of her internal monologue seemed either devoted to how hot all of the guys were or how she had no desire to be bookish (despite reading a textbook twice through ahead of the class?). Might try other series by this author since I so enjoyed her personality on a podcast, but I’ve had my fill of this book.
