I am torn between 3-4 stars on this but ultimately enjoyed it. I do think that the character swapping was a bit much and I really wish we stuck with Roku’s POV more. I also think that the conflict of the village itself really wasn’t that interesting to follow but understand how it lead to Roku’s character arc and forged relationship change between gyatso and sozin.
I did really like how gyatso and Roku finally because friends - a pure moment that made me wish that men IRL could have emotionally sound relationships.
I felt the conflict in this book compared to the last avatar books felt a bit more predictable which isn’t bad, but I hope the continuation doesn’t still center around the island but expands.
