This one was my favorite out of all three. It wasn’t predictable like the others were in some ways. I loved it!

So Reached is the final novel in the Matched series, written by Ally Condie. It's by far the longest of the three, which can be a little off-putting to some readers. However, I managed to get through it all and enjoyed it a lot!

In this novel, the Rising finally comes into power, overtaking the Society. Cassia, Ky and Xander each play their individual parts, whilst trying to find one another again.

The Plague, designed for the Enemy, infiltrates the water of the Society, leaving thousands of people still. The Rising has a cure, and quickly gets to work curing everybody. Until an unexpected mutation develops, leaving people uncurable and even dead.

The three young people are finally reunited when the Pilot, leader of the Rising, gathers them together to begin creating a cure for this new Plague. But will they do it in time?

I've actually really enjoyed this trilogy. I know some people aren't so keen on it, and I wasn't sure how interesting this last book would be. I expected it to be a bit dragged on as it's so long, but I didn't find myself bored whilst reading it at all.

The love triangle between Cassia, Ky and Xander is finally brought to an end at the end of this novel. It's nice how everyone ends up happy, and although they separate again everything is good.

They all play very important roles throughout the Rising's takeover, and the hunt for the new cure. The book is written alternately from each main character's point of view, giving us an insight on everything that's happening with each person.

Condie seems to have a very unique writing style. It's very to-the-point, yet expressive and romantic. I really like her writing, and I applaud her for writing such a long book without losing the interest of the readers.

So basically I was pleasantly surprised by this novel. It's a nice conclusion to the trilogy, leaving room for the imagination after the last page. Everything sort of works itself out, and although there are tons of losses and problems, the characters all find a sense of peace at last. 4 stars!

Em 2008 a aventura começou. Depois de uma pergunta pertinente do marido sobre o casamento, Ally começou a criar uma história na sua cabeça, uma história que nove meses depois tomou forma e União, o seu primeiro livro, seria publicado em 2010. Professora, mãe e esposa, Ally colocou as suas experiências na história a que deu vida e esta tornou-se uma trilogia distópica que dois anos depois de se ter iniciado, terminou com Reached.
Actualmente a trabalhar no seu novo projecto, que apenas será publicado no final do ano que vem, a escritora que continua a actualizar a licença de professora poderá ver a sua primeira obra no cinema pelas mãos do estúdio da Disney estando o realizador já escolhido. David Slade, o mesmo que realizou a terceira parte de Twilight.
Reached, o fim da trilogia, foi publicado em Novembro último e já foi traduzido para sete países. Apenas o primeiro livro da trilogia, União, está traduzido em terras lusas mas o segundo livro poderá ser traduzido quando houver mais novidades do filme.
As dúvidas cresceram, a herança deixou um caminho em aberto, as decisões foram tomadas e agora as vozes levantam-se mas uma revolta pacífica nem sempre resulta pelo melhor e a expectativa de um novo mundo pode custar-te os que mais amas. Cassia, Ky e Xander estão no centro do tornado mas em lados opostos, cada um tem um papel a cumprir mas o que são, o que sentem pode interferir com o que desejam. Os alicerces da perfeição foram abalados mas para se chegar à conclusão ainda há um longo caminho a percorrer, decisões difíceis a tomar, sonhos a serem quebrados e novas forças devem emergir para que tudo não se perca nas falhas que não podiam existir. Longe da segurança que conheceram, longe do dia que uniu os seus destinos, os três jovens têm um papel a desempenhar nas mudanças porque ansiaram mas ainda não sabem qual o preço a pagar.
Mais uma vez, a escrita lírica, simples e emotiva de Ally invade-nos assim que começámos a ler. Depois de Crossed ter terminado com muitas questões no ar, eis que as respostas se começam a desvendar mas, até ao fim, ainda há sacrifícios a fazer, provações a passar e muita dor e ansiedade para nos parar o coração. De livro a livro, sem nunca mudar de tom, Ally tem surpreendido pela forma como tem desenvolvido a história e, garanto-vos, ninguém poderia imaginar o rumo que a história de Cassia iria tomar. Aquela que começou como uma história de pequenos gestos de amor e luta, tornou-se uma jornada em busca de algo melhor e vem culminar finalmente com a revolta, uma revolta que pelo espírito desta trilogia só podia ser pacífica mas que psicologicamente irá mexer com todos os intervenientes e mudar muito mais do que seria esperado. 
Segredos desfazem-se capítulo a capítulo. Questões levantadas vão sendo respondidas mas até ao fim nunca sabemos o que vai acontecer realmente. É a expectativa, a ansiedade e a provação que desenham esta história. É a perda, a luta, a crença e o amor que riscam os contornos da recta final. E há uma desilusão patente que vai crescendo conforme as personagens se apercebem que sofreram por algo que não era o que idealizavam, que usa armas do mesmo tipo que a Sociedade onde cresceram, que para se fazerem de heróis acabam por colocar em risco tudo e todos. Ao longo desta narrativa, alicerces caem sem barulho e verdades desfazem-se com o crescimento de novas formas de vida até que o futuro parece desaparecer no horizonte e é a partir daqui que a adrenalina cresce, que o fim se vai tornando incerto e começa a aproximar-se.
Um fim agridoce, um fim em aberto, um fim em que se sobrevive e se conquista, em que a esperança começa a tomar forma. A queda é sempre rápida mas a reconstrução de um mundo de opiniões, de desejos é lenta e tem de ser feita passo a passo. Existe uma calma, uma pacificidade ao longo do livro que não combina com o espírito de revolta mas que nesta história faz todo o sentido pois ela não nos fala de guerras, não nos dá um inimigo mas sim um sonho, uma crença de que se pode mudar, um herói idealizado e a força de vontade, a capacidade de amor daqueles que acreditam. Aqui o que se pretende é que se perceba que podemos ser o que quisermos, que podemos ter inúmeros talentos e todos são de valor, que podemos amar quem quisermos e fazê-lo mais do que uma vez, que cada um tem as suas ideias e crenças e que somos nós que nos formámos a nós próprios.
Cassia cresce neste livro e vemo-la tomar decisões difíceis, a fazer escolhas, a mostrar que amadureceu e que sabe o que realmente quer e deseja. Ky é o mesmo, não há nada que o mude e pela sua coerência e força é sem dúvida a grande personagem deste livro. Já Xander, bem confesso, que ele me conseguiu surpreender mas continua a ser uma personagem por quem não nutro muito carinho. Ao longo do livro conhecemos outras personagens, aprendemos a respeitar algumas e sofremos com muitas delas.
Reached é um fim que é mais, que é menos, que surpreende mas que deixa um sabor agridoce na boca. Não é um grande fim mas é um fim que nos deixa divagar e com um sorriso nos lábios. Tenho pena que a trilogia tenha perdido alguma força depois do primeiro livro mas tenho mais pena que tenha chegado ao fim. Espero que brevemente União tenha companhia nas livrarias portuguesas.
