My eyes flared while reading this book, even though my brow was knitted. The first part of the book was so slow, that my flexed jaw ticked out of frustration and I could feel my stomach turning. Luckily, the second part happened in a heartbeat, so my bond with this book was improved.

I feel a pit in my twisted stomach every time Violet is slow in realising the conclusions to her own thoughts, making my stomach lurch out of irritation. Thankfully right before this, my stomach had plummeted due to my sunken heart, so I did not puke.

Xaden. Is. So. Damned. Beautiful. that my chest tightens when his gaze sweeps over Violet. I think they’re such a good match, because Xaden’s clenched jaw matches Violet’s clenched stomach very well.

My spine stiffens thinking about the fact that this was only book three and I’m well the fuck aware there are two more coming. Though a smile curves my lips knowing I’m over halfway through the book series.

Thank the gods I finally finished this book, but I must say my throat threatened to close when I realised it will probably take at least another year for the fourth book to be published. Because as much as I like to make fun of this book series, I can feel excitement coiling inside me and power rushing through my veins for the next release.

I liked the change of pace for the first portion of the book - stepping away from the normal setting of The Continent but also felt like there was so much that happened without a full resolution at the end of the book it kind of annoyed me. And the battle scene descriptions were hard to follow

i really wanted to love this the way i loved the others, but this one was a struggle for me. the world is still immersive and the emotional tension is there, but a lot of it felt slow and repetitive. it literally took me a full year to finish because i just didn’t feel that pull to keep picking it back up. that said—the last five percent? i couldn’t put it down. and that ending… what the actual fuck. suddenly the urgency, chaos, and emotion were all there, and now i’m absolutely invested again. not a bad book, just one that took its time getting to the part that actually wrecked me.

damn okay, why did it take me almost a year to complete this book? definitely felt more like a filler book with a cliffhanger :’) so many more characters introduced that I couldn't really care for. It only got really exhilarating at the last quarter of the book but it didn’t have to be 700 pages long

Rebecca Yarrows and her cliffhangers. I enjoyed this book, but it was a little confusing since I didn't really recognize some of the characters near the beginning. I enjoyed the quest squad aspect of it and all the different islands, but it felt very slow-paced. Ridoc and his jokes honestly made the whole book... I. Hate. Sewing. I believe I would have enjoyed the book a whole lot more if I hadn't had the major plot twists spoiled for me, so nothing was really surprising. Amazing series and I cannot wait for the next book to come out!
