Fourth Wing The Empyrean, Book 1
Reviews

Really good. Not a single moment was boring and the end was really really good.

Entertaining but super formulaic from the beginning :/ I’ll still read the next one though ahahhah

This book was amazing in so many ways. The world, the challenges are all created so cleverly. I couldn’t put it down. The writing was so good, I felt like I was watching a movie. The story is super interesting and a mix of hunger games, game of thrones, and fifty shades.

As an avid reader of fantasy back in the late 90s and early 2000s, I was eager to start reading again. While this didn’t disappoint, I don’t think it quite lived up to the hype either. Nevertheless, it was still a very enjoyable read. Good pacing. Interesting characters. The dragons were a delight (when are they not?)

I am not a fantasy girly until now.
I loved this book. The plot was amazing and the characters were well written. I absolutely fell in love with Xaden.
Definitely about to start Part 2.

A fun time, i was drawn in. I saw the ending coming and nothing that happened in the book really surprised me, but I enjoyed it

Amazing book. Action packed with major plot points happening almost every chapter. Great and immersive story telling. Not a fan of the romance scenes. Seems to linger on those more than just for plot and story telling. Overall one of my favorite fantasy books.

!!!! I screamed so loud at the ending I woke my husband and dog

& so it begins~!
Violet x Xaden

i like the premise but also the writing style was kinda off-putting sometimes? but it definitely scratched the YA itch. hope the writing gets better in the next books though bc JESUS some parts were hard to get through

Holy shit, this book got me hooked, I couldn’t stop reading it. Written perfectly, big fan if the enemies to lovers trope. Need to immediately start reading the next book after that cliff hanger.

This is a great read. I love me a great fantasy book and this book has the ability to take you from our world to their world. This book was amazing.

Liam and Andarna stole my heart throughout the book🥹 I love love love the magic system and world building, it’s simple enough to follow. Idk I’m a simple person, dragons are cool so the book is too lol

One generation to change the text. One generation chooses to teach that text. The next grows, and the lie becomes history.

Damn! It was a great first run, and I'm glad I don’t have to wait for the next book to be released. Although I was expecting a cliché story or a retelling like "A Court of Thorns and Roses," the author made it feel original. This book has everything I need—magic, dragons, and rebellions—so count me in! I can even overlook the fact that poor Vi has conveniently everything that no one else has.

"Should I get the wingleader?"
The story begins with an introduction to our main character, Violet Sorrengail, who has been trained her whole life to become a scribe like her father. But when it comes time to start her studies at Basgiath, her mother – General Sorrengail – forces her to become a knight at the last moment. She then enters the quadrant known for being violent and for being the place where rebels are sent.
Yarros' detailed writing allows the reader to feel like they're a character, experiencing everything in their imagination as they read. The book doesn’t have the slow build typical of many fantasy books; by the second chapter, the characters are already facing their first dangerous challenge: the parapet, a narrow stone bridge hundreds of meters high.
"Fourth Wing" follows Violet as she discovers that her kingdom's protection, Navarra, is failing, and the leadership is hiding important secrets. Along with her fellow cadets, she faces thrilling challenges that keep the reader eagerly turning the pages to find out what happens next.
In addition to a captivating fantasy plot, the book also features a charming romance, including a love triangle and an intriguing enemy, Xaden Riorson. Five books are planned for the series, but even in the first, these sworn enemies are already confessing their eternal love.
But let's talk about what made me anxious to keep reading this work: the dragons, the shining stars of this chaotic narrative. The main dragon, Tairn, steals the spotlight with a personality even more captivating than the legion of characters. Meanwhile, Sgaeyl proves to be a bit grumpy and overprotective of Xaden. And the cuteness of Andarna crowns the unstoppable trio.

Is this the third time I’m reading this? Yes. Did I devour it like I’d never read it before? Yes. Did I laugh and cry at the same moments I did all the other times? Most definitely.
This book has a special little place in my heart and I’m not even ashamed to admit it.
Reread after reading Onyx Storm because I couldn’t wait and reread this one and Iron Flame before starting it. And I feel no shame about my decision, however I had to reread them afterwards because I was lost for 40% of Onyx Storm and I like understanding books you know?
Anyways, this was as perfect as it always has been. World-building, politics, relationships, humour, sex, DRAGONS, funny dragons, fighting, friendships **chefs kiss**

so so good! i loved it!

11/10
Loved every second!! And the little twist at the end, can’t wait to read the next one!

The audio book is stunning in Russian, it adds so much to the story that just reading the text only afterwards becomes bland. Listened to it in Russian and read the English version. Not the best story but boy, did it get me into romantasy.

Like the world/story. Writing style is simple like Sanderson. Vibes.

Devoured it.

LOVED fascinating loved the girl power the love story the fantasy only thing I didn’t like was that the writer wasn’t graphic it was hard to picture some things. The end plot, Liam dying, Diam’s betrayal amazing

The greatest masterpiece to ever graze my eyes! That is all.

Slow beginning but the last 100 pages were the best & the ending 🤯. I’m starting the second book now.

“I know how to survive”
Very great writing

YES

"You'll feel the moment when you'll know that there's nothing to leave. And it might break your heart, but when you feel it, you fly. Promise me you'll fly."
no, stop 😭😭

Xaden pulls the venin from the wyvern’s back and yanks him downward, right into the dagger he holds in his outstretched hand.
Damn, sometimes I forget just how beautifully lethal he is.

He yanks me close and kisses my forehead. “There is no me without you,” he says against my skin.

”One generation to change the text. One generation chooses to teach that text. The next grows, and the lie becomes history.”

“I never lied when I said I can’t live without you, Violence.” He backs away slowly, his lips curving in a sad smile. “And defenseless women have never been my type, remember?”

“You’re mine, Violet.”
I lift my chin. “Only if you’re mine.”
“I’ve been yours for longer than you could ever imagine.”

His fingers tangle in my hair. “I fucking love your hair. If you ever want to bring me to my knees or win an argument, just let it down. I’ll get the point.”

“Oh, gods.”
“Which one are you calling out for?” he asks against my flesh. “Because it’s just you and me in this room, Vi, and I don’t share.”
“You.” My fingers tangle in his hair. “I’m calling out for you.”
