Rebound A Boomerang Novel
Reviews

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads . Last year, I fell in love with Boomerang. The writing was fresh. It was sexy and I adored the characters. I was thrilled to see this series continue and, while Rebound didn’t quite grab me the way Boomerang did, it was still a fun book. Rebound is the story of Adam and Alison. We met both of these characters in Boomerang. I was excited to get Adam’s story. I had some reservations about Alison, because I only knew her as the girl who cheated on Ethan. But still, I jumped right into this book. I hoped she could be redeemed… and I wanted to see her interact with Baby Ryan Gosling. I did like Adam and Alison together quite a bit. The setup was similar to the first book in that they met, clicked and then learned they couldn’t pursue a relationship because of something work-related. Here it was that Alison and her family were potential investors in his ventures. But they had an ulterior motive, too. If I’m honest, I didn’t love this. Alison’s dad was seriously shady and she was along for the ride, totally as his puppet. Adam worked hard to get where he was and I didn’t like to see him manipulated. It was a good setup for the book, but it didn’t do much to endear Alison to me. Until she started to see what kind of man her father was and she grew a spine, that is. While this storyline frustrated me, I liked how it was all resolved. These characters might have been flawed, but they worked so well together. I liked how they challenged each other. It was because of their connection that they each found a way to embrace things that happened in their separate pasts and find a way to move forward. I enjoyed their chemistry and banter. This book gave good slow burn, but I found myself wanting more schemxy times. Rebound was a good follow-up to Boomerang. I assume this series will continue and I will definitely be interested to see who gets the next book. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review.

This book was jointly reviewed by myself and my co-blogger, Becca! THE STORY: Lisa: Boomerang was one of my favorite NA books of last year. So of course my excitement over reading Rebound was totally explainable. I loved Boomerang’s uniqueness, the ease at which the story progressed, and the admirable writing style of this duo that I quickly fell in love with. So of course my hopes for Rebound were pretty sky high. Luckily, I was not let down. This book was everything Boomerang was, causing this series to remain a favorite of mine. Rebound starts where Boomerang left off. Though this is mostly the story of Adam and Alison, we do get glimpses into the lives of the other Boomerang employees, including Ethan and Mia (who we met in Boomerang.) Adam and Alison run into each other by chance at a party and instantly have a connection… until they realize who the other one actually is. From that point forward they fight their connection. You see, they are in the midst of a business deal. Alison’s extremely wealthy father wants to invest in Adam’s very successful business, and he sends Alison in to dig up the dirt on Adam before they make the deal. Adam is fighting his feelings for Alison for a couple reasons. First, it is strictly a business deal, and he doesn’t want to mix business with pleasure. Also, he was severely hurt by a past relationship and refuses to fall for another woman. The torment over his past severely restricts his love life going forward. These two have a lot on their minds… including the attraction for each other that’s very clearly difficult to ignore. Becca: I agree with Lisa completely! I recently purchased the ebook of Boomerang after Lisa and several others told me how much they loved it! Oh boy I was NOT disappointed! I absolutely loved it! See my review for Boomerang here. I requested Rebound before I even finished Boomerang because I was so excited to continue this series! Rebound is different from Boomerang, but just as good! Although this book has it’s own dose of humor, it has a different tone than Boomerang. In Boomerang Ethan and Mia are a bit younger, still finding themselves and both are very witty and funny. Adam and Alison are both more serious and already know where their life is headed, they are different, but in a good way. I loved that this was different, but still had the same elements of a slow burn romance! The tension and sparks between these two built and built until I couldn’t take it anymore! I actually said to Lisa “I need something to happen… like now!” and when it did Lisa said “finally!” our hearts couldn’t take it anymore! When the story really picked up steam in the second half we were giddy and smiling from ear to ear! THE CHARACTERS: Becca: I had already fallen a bit for Adam when I read Boomerang. His charisma, charm and success drew me in like a magnet. I was unsure about Alison, in some ways she was unlikable and in others I felt for her and really wanted to understand her. Throughout this whole book we learn bits and pieces about their pasts and I loved that as more was revealed the reader does learn who they are along the way. By the end, I had all of my answers and liked them both even more! People talk about feeling someone else’s pain and now I truly do. It feels like someone is tightening a wire around my heart. I want to find him and put my arms around him. I want to love him enough for two people – the girl he lost and the girl I’m trying to become. I was so excited to see all of the characters from Boomerang in this book as well. I liked so many of them, from Pippa and Paolo and even Cookie. We even get to see Mia and Ethan and swoon over how happy they are! I love the world of Boomerang that August built, it was such a cohesive and creative work environment. If it were real I would be sending them my resume :) “Most people think success is built on brilliant ideas, but they’re wrong. Success is built on brilliant ideas places in the hands of great people, and I have a talent for finding those.” One addition to this story whom we did not meet in Boomerang is Grey, Adam’s little brother. Oh boy, is he swoon worthy. So different from Adam in a bad boy, tattooed rocker kind of way. I was thrilled when I read that book 3 in this series is about him and Mia’s BFF Skyler! *fist pumps while smiling like a giddy 13 year old girl* I will definitely be reading that one! Lisa: Ha! Totally, Becca. Totally. Grey was definitely entertaining! I have a feeling we’re gonna fall even harder for him once we hear his story. I can’t wait!! We surf for different reasons Grey and I. I come to find peace. He comes to raise hell. This cast of characters is one I really enjoy. Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore companion novels in series. This is definitely one of those times. These characters are so fun, unique, and exceptionally entertaining. I really enjoyed Adam and Alison, who were complete opposites, yet realized they actually had quite a bit in common as time went on. We also get to meet Alison’s parents. And if you’re anything like me, you will love to hate her father right away. Controlling, manipulative and selfish. This man deserves to be hated. He played a huge part in this story though, as well as Alison’s mother, who really makes her presence known in the latter part of the story. A great cast to keep our interest growing. OVERALL: Lisa: As I stated, this series is one of my favorites. It’s entertaining, addicting, and very unique. This is not your typical NA book, and because of this I think it will definitely have a bigger group of fans than the usual NA romance group. With it’s share of swoons, laughing, and even anger, this story (and series) will keep you wanting more. This writing duo is one I instantly fell in love with while reading Boomerang, and I’m dying to see what they’ll have in store for us next in Grey’s story, Bounce! Becca: I am so glad Lisa got me hooked on this series because I absolutely love it too! She is also right that this is not your typical NA story and Augusts writing style is different and fun! I can’t wait to see where she takes this series next with Grey’s story as well… so yeah… what Lisa said LOL :D (Thanks to William Morrow Paperbacks for the review copy!)
