I received a free copy of Timesurfers as part of Rhonda Shermon's street gang. Overall I would give this book 3.5 stars out of 5. It wasn't a bad book but I felt like something was off right up until the last part of the book. I guess it started with the complicated beginning. You jump right into the story without any understanding about what is happening and you spend the entire story that way. Part of me believes this was on purpose, since the main character is left out of the loop throughout most of the story it makes sense that the reader learns things as she does, however I spent so much time trying to understand what was happening that I never got lost in the story. One of my favorite parts of reading is losing myself and really connecting with a story and while I wanted that for this book it was like I was right on the edge yet I couldn't quite fall...that is until the end. The ending is phenomenal! It all comes together and leaves the greatest cliffhanger, so great that I am itching for book 2! I do have to point out that while a lot of the information is confusing and takes some time to get, all of the characters are so complex and the main character is a complete badass that that alone kept me reading. Plus the concept is one that I have not encountered before. I mean who doesn't love the idea of being able to travel through time and safe the world? Overall I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in a new type of young adult story. The characters are strong and unique, the story is something that isn't encountered often and while the writing is at times complicated it is definently entertaining. While it might not be a quick or easy read it is still worth the time.
