This was cute, but not particularly deep. I enjoyed the little short stories about each realm, but I kind of wished there was more overlap between stories. Still, it was fun getting to read from the perspectives of the side characters for a change, rather than Magnus. I was kind of hoping there would be more about Magnus and Alex's relationship, since that's something that isn't explored much, but alas it was not to be. For the reasons listed, I'm giving it 3.5 stars but I'm rounding down to 3 because that brings the average closer to my preferred rating. (Right now it's hovering at 3.96.)

Librarian: Obviously this one is getting ordered. (Actually its technically already been ordered. From literally the moment it was available.) Riordan continues to be a fan favorite and this latest short story collection should satisfy his fans.
Reader: This is obviously a short story collection, similar, but not identical to Demigod Diaries or Demigod Files. As such it doesn’t have quite the same heft as a full novel. Also, fans of the series should note that none of these stories are narrated by Magnus. In fact he’s not in them at all. Instead 9 supporting characters (and Thor) tell us stories of the events going on across the nine realms during the course of a day. All in all, it’s a lot of fun, and a nice little treat for fans of the series.

While this is a sort of "short story" collection, it is one main story with connecting threads. 

I love any view into Riordan's worlds so I was sure I was going to enjoy this and I did. The plot was a little lacking in comparison to what I'm used to from these novels, but I expected that with the short story format.

There are also full-color photos of Hearth, Blitz, Mallory, Alex, Samirah, TJ, Halfborn, and Odin. As well as eight of the nine realms (all sans Midgard). 

Overall I'd say if you enjoyed the Magnus Chase series, you'll enjoy this as well.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter how many books I read, there is always something special with Rick Riordan’s books. I just love the way he connects everything and the stories from different perspective. I also love the way characters in Magnus Chase, so learning more about the character by reading from their perspective was definitely something I enjoyed. Not giving this a five (even if I am considering it) because I usually save those for the top book, so four stars will do. I’ll add a half in my head.

I though this collection of short stories was really cute. I really loved how this collection followed the minor characters in the magnus chase series and did not include magnus and it was such a fun read. I also liked how thor storyline was the connecting link between all the stories. I really found this to fun read and loved going back to norse world.
