my favorite book when I was young

a childhood classic. Matilda is a wonderful character. Gotta Love Miss Honey. Fuck the author tho

Man English schools really mess you up.

thank you for my mom who always came late to pick me up from english lesson, and LPIA Bambu Apus for providing lobby with books, and one of them was this book, so I could read it while waiting for my mom. i remember i really enjoyed the story and felt really bothered by mathilda's psycho family and school principal. i was inspired by her spirit and love for learning.

A favorite of childhood, although to be honest I liked the movie more.

Listened to the Kate Winslet audiobook, and it was outstanding. Already loved the book, but her acting/narration is remarkable.

Utterly adorable, funny and enjoyable.

Baca ulang lagi and still love this book. Matilda is such adorable little kid who really love reading a lot since child. Meskipun sosok Matilda nya too good to be true but I really wish I could have little kid like Matilda. Applause juga buat Matilda yang udah baca buku-bukunya dicken in such young age.

Favorite book/movie as a child

just a delight to read. there’s a reason this is a classic!! healing my inner child one roald dahl story at a time :)

Re-reading through an audiobook version. I love everything about this book!

so cute

A childhood classic you've never read ✔

I didn't love Matilda, but I didn't hate it either.

You should definitely read it i recommend it 100%

I finally read this classic by Roald Dahl. He's one the masters of children literature! I really enjoyed reading this. It made me feel like watching the movie all over again However Matilda does seem her very young age in the book while she may seem a little older in the movie. It also makes me want to watch the movie for the umpteenth time (especially for the pancake scene... aaah the music)!

Read with the kids.

** spoiler alert ** This was an absolute delight. I didn’t quite enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Perhaps because I watched the film before reading this. Matilda is such a great character. She may be quiet and polite but she is so brave and wise beyond her years. For a little girl she was just so complex. Despite being a children’s book Dahl creates such vivid and fascinating characters. Even though Miss. Honey seems to be just a weak and docile character, but we come to find out that she was abused as a child. She wasn’t just weak so Matilda could step in and save the day, there were genuine reasons as to why she acts the was she does. The plot was where I was a little let down. Again, as I watched the movie before reading the book I knew roughly what was going to happen. This wasn’t the issue. I felt like it was just a bit underdeveloped and in the end Matilda scares Miss Trunchbull once and then she’s gone. I just prefer how they did it in the movie. The whole getting revenge on Trunchbull was spread out longer. As always, I adored Dahl’s writing. He just has a way of speaking to children in a way that is easy to understand but by no means condescending. Overall, really enjoyed this. Was a little disappointed with the plot, but was a solid read.

3.5 stars.

¡Mil veces mejor que Las brujas! Me encantó de principio a fin, quitando de lado lo cruel que es este autor con sus personajes. Ah, y haberlo sacado de la biblioteca le dio otro significado, me sentí más identificado con Matilda por ello.

4.5

Lovely book about how it's a funny, funny thing about parents.

"Małe krnąbrne karaczany z tych dziewczynek." Fajna ta zabawa, ale chyba starość jednak.

Good funny and sad book but still one of my favourite's read it in school, love the movie too
