Robert Dugoni is so talented. Honestly, normally I would find a character like Tracy Crosswhite a little generic. But he made her seem less so, more relatable, and overall just a great character to want to continue learning about.

The entire book was superb. Bout to start the next Tracy Crosswhite book!!

The Tracy Crosswhite journey continues and man, it is a journey. Another solid and thrilling read that literally left me on the edge of my seat. This was such a fun book. So many twist and turns, I could barely keep them all straight. Just when I thought I had figured it out, the book was like noooope. 

Tracy is recovering from what happened in the first book with finding her sister's remains. She is assigned the task of finding out who is killing exotic dancers. While doing this, she is dealing with a stalker, finding out what her relationship with Dan is and Nolasco being a jerk. 

The concept of sexism really played a major role in this. Nolasco is Tracy's boss. He is a jerk to put it in the nicest terms possible. He grabbed her breast as a show of being a bully (because Tracy beat his shooting score) while they were going over pat downs about 20 years ago. She took him down and he never got over that. He hates Tracy not only because she is a woman but because she is better than him in every way. He is such a chauvinistic pig that he can't see past his huge and undeserved ego. 

I'm glad that they included sexism in this book. It was in the first book as well but not as much. I think it's good to show how women face sexism when working "man jobs". I have personally felt what sexism is like from a college professor. It is a terrible feeling to know that someone looks down upon you because of your sex. It's also downright stupid. I mean come on. You have to be an idiot to think that your sex determines your personality and character. 

I didn't take a lot of notes on this book simply because I was so involved in it. I can't really talk about the plot at all because it's literally one giant spoiler and if I say anything, it'll all be ruined. But like I mentioned before, so many twists and turns. This book lulls you into a false sense of security. It lets you think that you have it all figured out; that nothing more could happen and it would just be all wrapped up with a nice little bow. Then BAM, new information that makes you question EVERYTHING. Everything you thought you knew was wrong; so very wrong. And I love books like that. I love being confused and not knowing what is going on. As long as everything gets explained in the end. 

You can sure bet that I will be continuing this series. The covers so far have been so gorgeous as well, I just have to gush about them. Whoever is designing them deserves an award, for real. I have a feeling I will have to find more books similar to this to curb my appetite for crime thrillers. Never thought I would hear those words coming out of my mouth.

As a stand alone mystery/crime story, I really enjoyed this book. I don’t necessarily think this book was spectacular as a sequel to the first book in this duology or had any relevance, however, as a stand alone I think it was a really solid book.

I did enjoy reading about the characters I came to know and love from the first book and I think there was a strong storyline that kept me guessing. I’m a big fan of crime novels and this was another really good example of a well done crime story. Again, I don’t think it necessary to read the first book and then follow with this one as the only real connection is the characters, but even without knowing the characters, the book would make perfect sense.

This is the second instalment in the Tracy Crosswhite series and I’m so glad that I decided to continue reading it. I think I enjoyed this one equally as much as the first one and I will definitely be continuing with the third one soon.
