This history of how Earth came to be, well, it totally blew me away! This is one of those just-can't-put-it-down works of art that somehow straddles that tricky median between the often stale and unapproachable facts and figures and the intrigue and excitement of an unpredictable fantasy. Somehow, Hazen makes me want to read anything I can find about rocks and fungi and any of the other minutiae that have terraformed our planet over these many slow millenia. I would passionately recommend this read to anyone who enjoys science and, perhaps even more vehemently, anyone who thinks they do not.
